We hope so.Ella Mae’s Diner Host will be responsible for greeting and seating all guests; ensures all guests are welcomed with a warm, friendly, and enthusiastic greeting and seated comfortably to start their dining experience in accordance to Ella Mae’s Diner standards and the Autograph Collection standards under the franchise of Mainsail Lodging & Development. Hours of operation: 7AM-2:30PM. Morning availability required.Essential FunctionsResponsible for greeting guests in a friendly and genuine manner, escorting guests to tables, following all proper steps of serviceAbility to create a service experience for the guest that represents the Ella Mae’s Diner brandMonitors guests’ needs and the workflow of the restaurant and seats guests accordinglyMaintain and manages Ella Mae’s Diner reservations in restaurant’s reservation systemHandles cash and credit transactions; accurately accounts for all receivables including cash, credit cards, and gift cards. Ability to converse with guests in a friendly, hospitable and informative manner Use a rotation method to ensure seating is fairReport to work on time and in proper uniform/approved attireWork as a team with all team members within the hotelCheck greeter station assigned for cleanliness of area Ensure the front of the restaurant is clean and all objects are dust freeCheck all tables to ensure they are set up and ready to be seated with guestsCommunicate to servers when seating tablesAssist servers when necessary and clears, sanitizes and sets tables as needed. Have knowledge of all areas within the hotelAbility to communicate to managers the flow of dining roomNever solicit tipsAttend monthly department meetings and daily stand upsAbility to use POS (point of sale) system Oracle MICROS POSAssist managers with daily duties such as scheduling of stationsFollow the procedures addressed in the training manualPerform other duties as management requests to service our guests. Qualification StandardsEducation & ExperienceHigh School diploma or higherPrevious hospitality experience preferred, at least one-year host position preferredPrevious cashier/cash handling experience preferredExcellent customer service skillsExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenAbility to use technology e.g. tablets, iPads Ability to assist with menu revisions when neededPhysical DemandsAbility to sit or stand for extended periods of timeAbility to communicate clearlyAbility to lift 20 lbs. or moreCorrected vision to normal rangeLong hours sometimes requiredMental DemandsMake sound judgments quicklyWork on multiple tasks, making appropriate progress towards deadlinesManage differing personalities within the office, the hotel and the communityMaintain the highest degree of confidentialityAbility to work effectively in stressful, high pressure situationsAbility to effectively handle challenges in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessaryNOTICE: The hotel business functions seven days a week, 24 hours a day. All associates must always realize this fact and be aware that it may be necessary to move associates form their accustomed shift as business demands.
