The pursuit of excellence exhibited by our staff is largely what's behind the innovative and rigorous education that students receive at Torah Prep School.Position SummaryTo improve the educational experience of students, Teacher Assistants assist the instructional and administrative staff. The Teacher Assistant will assist teachers with instruction of individual and small groups of students in the classroom, assist with student supervision during arrival, lunch, recess, and/or dismissal, and may be asked to substitute teach on days a teacher is absent. Teacher Assistants perform a variety of classroom, general, and clerical duties related to assisting the school and classrooms.Essential DutiesPerforms supportive instructional tasks under the direction of teachers and administratorsSupervise classrooms when neededMonitor students during independent work activities and provides assistance as neededProvide tutorial assistance to students in one-to-one or small group settings under the direction of teachers and administratorsProvides practice and reinforcement activities for students as follow-up to direct instruction provided by the classroom teacherAssists in the preparation of instructional materialsProvides encouragement to studentsAssists in the supervision of students throughout the school day (e.g. supports teachers within the classroom, arrival, lunch, recess, movement throughout the building, dismissal)Assists teachers and principals with clerical duties as neededSubstitute teach in general studies classrooms across campuses when the need arisesPerform other duties as assignedRequirements of ApplicantsPrevious experience working with children (teacher aid, building aid, or teacher experience preferred)Strong background in literacy (specifically guided reading and writer's workshop) and Science of ReadingAbility to address the needs of all students and challenge each one to reach his/her potentialTeam player with strong communication skillsExcellent classroom management skillsCreative, dynamic and positive professionalsWork Schedule and CompensationMondays - Thursdays, 8:15am - 4:15pmFridays, 8:15am - 2:15pm
