Comptroller / Director of Financial Accounting

Beech Valley is seeking an experienced Comptroller / Director of Financial Accounting to lead core financial reporting and compliance functions for a health system environment. This role is based onsite in Philadelphia, PA. Reporting directly to the CFO, this position will oversee the monthly close, financial statement preparation, audit coordination, and tax reporting in accordance with GASB standards. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both technical accounting expertise and strong team management capabilities.What You’ll DoLead preparation and analysis of financial statements, including income statement, balance sheet, and cash flowManage the monthly close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to leadership and the BoardOversee general ledger activity, ensuring accuracy of journal entries and account reconciliationsSupervise and mentor accounting staff, including Senior Accountant(s) and team membersServe as primary liaison for external auditors and lead the annual audit processOversee preparation and filing of IRS Form 990 and related tax reportingEnsure compliance with GASB standards and applicable regulatory requirementsIdentify process improvements to enhance reporting accuracy and efficiencyWhat We’re Looking ForBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field8+ years of progressive accounting or finance experienceStrong experience with GASB accounting standardsProven track record managing audits and preparing financial statementsExperience with nonprofit and/or healthcare accounting environments preferredDemonstrated leadership experience managing and developing accounting teamsAdvanced Excel skills and proficiency with accounting systemsStrong analytical, organizational, and communication skillsNice to HaveCPA designationExperience with large health systems or complex organizational structuresPrior experience reporting to executive leadership or Board of DirectorsWhy Beech Valley?Flexibility: Accept and reject projects to fit your life and goalsCompensation: Get paid for every hour you workGrowth: Build your network and expand your skill set across exciting clients and projects
