Sr. Mechanical Project Engineer

We're hiring a Sr. Mechanical Project Engineer to drive capital projects and plant performance in a heavy manufacturing environment. This position plays a critical role in executing large-scale engineering initiatives while partnering closely with operations and maintenance teams to improve reliability, efficiency, and long-term performance. The role offers end-to-end ownership of projects across a complex, multi-process production facility.Key Responsibilities:Lead capital and improvement projects from early concept through installation and startupOversee project timelines, budgets, and execution to ensure successful deliveryPartner with cross-functional teams (operations, maintenance, and engineering) to solve production challengesManage third-party vendors, contractors, and engineering resources throughout project lifecyclesSupport plant shutdown activities, including coordination and execution of key maintenance projectsDevelop technical scopes, evaluate design alternatives, and mitigate project riskEnsure proper documentation, drawings, and specifications are developed and maintainedDrive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, safety, and operational efficiencyAssist with forecasting project spend and capital planning effortsQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline4-10 years of experience managing capital or engineering projects in a manufacturing or industrial settingStrong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple initiatives simultaneouslyExperience working in process-driven environments (e.g., paper, chemicals, metals, or similar industries) preferredProficiency with project tools and standard engineering software (Excel, project scheduling tools, etc.)Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to troubleshoot operational issuesEffective communicator who can collaborate across departments and with external partnersWhy This Role:End-to-end ownership of capital projects with high visibility across the siteOpportunity to influence plant reliability, efficiency, and long-term performanceBroad exposure to multiple engineering disciplines and complex industrial systemsHands-on involvement in both project execution and plant operations
