CGTN America in the Washington News Bureau for China Central Television ("CCTV"), which, through a division named the China Global Television Network ("CGTN"), offers multi-language news channel that is broadcast to over 100 English speaking countries, including the United States.About the role:The Washington, DC based correspondent is responsible for covering breaking news, politics, health, business, international affairs, and major events like NPC, CPPCC, UNGA, US Elections, CPAC, etc... The correspondent must maintain a keen focus on and awareness of global news events with a focus on China, North and South America.Responsibilities:Keep abreast of local, national, and international news events, especially as it relates to issues influencing news events in North and South America, as well as in China and Asia-Pacific.Research, pitch, and set-up original story ideas for long and short form programming.Write creative and strong reports for on-air broadcast and digital platformsPost content on social media platformsDeliver succinct and comprehensive news packages and concise live shots.Strong reporting skills and ability to do lives with personality and professionalism including live interviewsDevelop and maintain relationships with news sourcesCollaborate with producers, editors, and photographers on assignmentsCommunicate clearly with director, planning and desk editors on daily and future plansEasily adapt to other duties and responsibilities required by the Director of NewsgatheringCandidate requirements:College degree in mass communications or journalism preferredMust have at least 5+ years network or major market on-air experienceStrong oral communication and broadcast quality writing skillsExemplary on-air presentationExceptional organizational, time management and prioritization skillsStrong editorial news judgementAble to deploy on short notice for breaking newsAble to multi-task and handle multiple tasksPossess an understanding of and appreciation for a multi-national, multi-cultural work environmentPerform well in a high pressure, deadline driven environment.Ability to perform daily responsibilities swiftly, accurately, and comprehensivelyMust be able to work weekends and eveningsMust have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United StatesMust submit reel with resume and supply references upon requestDesired Characteristics:Keen interest in China and Asia-PacificInternational news gathering and television field experience a plusContact us to applyTo apply, please send resume to resumes@cgtnamerica.com
