Job SummarySUMMARY: This is semi-skilled work inoperating heavy equipment or operating a tandem axle dump truck. Job duties vary for each employee based onequipment or vehicle assignment. Duties of an Equipment Operator I or laborer maybe performed as needed.ESSENTIALDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Duties include butare not limited to:Operating a backhoe, pan, bulldozer, motor grader, or other equipment while digging, clearing, grading, grubbing, backfilling, and preparing road base on a job siteOperating a chipper or other heavy equipment on a paving crew; operating pothole patcherOperating a tandem axle dump truck in hauling sand, dirt, gravel, and other materials to the job site; spreading sand, dirt, and gravel at work siteOperating buffing machine to clean and wax floors of county facilitiesCollecting and disposing of solid waste from county ball fields and recreational facilitiesOperating tractor with bush hog or long arm to mow or till county right-of-ways and recreational fields; using a push mower or weed eater to mow areas inaccessible to bush hogLandscaping parks and recreational fields; planting grass, shrubs, flowers, and trees; and cutting trees and laying mulch and sodRepairing, replacing, painting, and constructing fences, scoreboards, field houses, and other recreational apparatus as neededChecking and cleaning assigned equipment on a regular basis and performing basic preventative maintenance in checking and refilling fluids, et ceteraMay assist crew leader or supervisor in estimating amount and type of materials, tools, and supplies needed at the job siteMay perform flagging duties for traffic control on a job siteMay perform duties of an Equipment Operator I or Laborer as neededPerforming emergency call-back duty as requiredJob duties vary for each employee depending on crew or work assignmentPerforming other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONREQUIREMENTS: To perform this jobsuccessfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential dutysatisfactorily.
