Position: Middle School ELA Teacher For consideration, the applicant must meet all minimum requirements and qualifications as outlined in the job description below.OBJECTIVE:An English Language Arts (ELA) teacher instructs students in reading, writing, speaking, and listening, focusing on literature, composition, and critical analysis. Key responsibilities include creating lesson plans, implementing curriculum, assessing student progress, managing classroom behavior, and fostering a positive learning environment to improve literacy skills across various proficiency levels. Teachers are required to attend after-school meetings, training, and tutorials as needed.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Curriculum Planning & Instruction: Develop and deliver engaging, standards-based lesson plans for reading, writing, and literature.Skill Development: Teach grammar, vocabulary, critical thinking, and composition, tailoring methods to diverse learning styles.Assessment & Evaluation: Grade assignments, administer tests, and monitor student progress to adjust instruction.Classroom Management: Maintain a safe, positive, and productive learning environment.Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate with colleagues, communicate with parents regarding student performance, and participate in staff meetings.Material Development: Utilize various literary resources and technology to enhance student learning.PROFESSIONALISM:To be punctual and be available during official working hours.To comply with AAMA policies, standards, rules, regulations, and procedures.To take precautions to protect equipment, materials, and facilities.To participate responsibly in the school's improvement initiatives.To demonstrate timeliness and attendance for assigned responsibilities.To work collaboratively with other professionals and staff.To provide and accept evaluative feedback professionally.Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about school personnel.REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS:Strong attention to detail, with a focus on quality and accuracy.Good organizational skills and ability to follow established processes.Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.Effective communication skills and a positive, cooperative attitude.Active Listening.Reading Comprehension.Time Management.Social Perceptiveness.Ability to record accurate information.Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.Ability to work effectively with students.Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal).REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:Required: Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or related field.Preferred: Valid Texas State Teaching License
