TITLE: Curriculum Coordinator, Elementary PreK-5 QUALIFICATIONS:A valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate (Type A or Level 3)Completes a general course in supervision designed to aid prospective supervisors or principals who have responsibility for assisting teachers in the improvement of instruction at both the elementary and secondary levels, giving special attention to the study of general principles, specific techniques, and procedures employed by successful supervisors (excludes certification in supervision of student teaching )REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Grades PreK-5, GuidanceOVERVIEW OF POSITION: To assist teachers and administrators in the improvement of instruction in grades K-2 or 3-5PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:Works closely with teachers to improve instruction in assigned content areasObserves teacher performanceOffers suggestions for improvementCalls attention to exemplary teachingEncourages utilization of teaching materials and technologyAssists teachers in obtaining materials for classroom useCompiles and distributes helpful teaching aidsConducts demonstration lessonsEvaluates data and makes recommendations on instruction based on that dataWorks with supervisors, principals, and assistant principals to implement new programs and enhance existing programsCooperates and works with general, special education, and Title I administrative staffPreviews and evaluates instructional materialsHolds conferences with product representatives and consultantsAssists in textbook evaluation and adoptionDistributes new materials and programs of instructionRecommends materials for purchasePlans, coordinates, and conducts in-service trainingDevelops units of study in curriculum areas as the need arisesIncorporates new ideas from educational literature and professional conferences into the existing curriculumWrites, implements, and evaluates grants for assigned content areasAssists in coordination of LEAP remediation and transition classes at the elementary and middle school sitesMeets the criteria for a Professional Growth Plan as set forth by the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) in Bulletin 130 - Regulations for the Evaluation and Assessment of School Personnel and the Bossier Parish Program of Professional Personnel EvaluationAssumes additional responsibilities as may be assigned by the Supervisor of Grades PreK-2 and 3-5, Guidance to include but not limited to extra-curricular activities that relate to students interests and opportunities.Any work to be performed outside of an employee's job duties and responsibilities shall require the employee to (1) submit a written description of the services to be performed and the estimated time to complete the task, which shall be submitted to the employee's immediate supervisor prior to commencing such services, (2) obtain the prior written approval of the employee's immediate supervisor, and (3) obtain supplemental, written authority from the employee's immediate supervisor before exceeding the initial estimated time for performing such services. Such employee shall submit a completed form reflecting the services actually provided and the time spent for each item, rounded to the nearest one-tenth of an hour, within seven (7) calendar days of performing such services.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten and one-half (10-1/2) monthsSALARY RANGE: See adopted Bossier Parish Salary Schedule
