Lead Infant Teacher

Start Date 07/27/2026 Position Summary The Infant Lead Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for infants ages 6 weeks to 12 months. The Lead Teacher plans and implements daily activities that support early development, while ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all children in the classroom. This role includes supervising classroom staff, maintaining licensing compliance, and building positive relationships with families. Key ResponsibilitiesClassroom Leadership Lead and manage the infant classroom in accordance with Missouri childcare licensing standards. Supervise and guide Assistant Teachers and Classroom Aides. Maintain appropriate teacher-to-child ratios at all times. Ensure a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for infants. Child Development & Learning Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities that promote infant development, including: Sensory exploration Tummy time Early language development Motor skill development Observe and track children’s developmental milestones. Support social, emotional, and cognitive growth. Daily Care Responsibilities Feed infants according to individual feeding schedules. Safely prepare and store bottles and baby food. Change diapers regularly and maintain proper sanitation. Follow safe sleep practices according to childcare licensing guidelines. Comfort and soothe infants as needed. Health & Safety Maintain a clean and sanitary classroom environment. Follow proper diapering, sanitation, and hygiene procedures. Monitor children for signs of illness or developmental concerns. Follow all emergency procedures and safety protocols. Documentation & Communication Maintain daily records including: Feeding schedules Diaper changes Nap times Developmental observations Communicate regularly with parents regarding their child’s daily activities and progress. Participate in parent conferences as needed. Classroom Environment Organize and maintain age-appropriate classroom materials and equipment. Create a warm, welcoming environment for children and families. Ensure toys and materials are sanitized regularly. Qualifications CDA Required Associate Degree preferred Experience working with infants in a childcare setting preferred Knowledge of infant development and caregiving practices Ability to maintain a calm and nurturing environment Strong communication and teamwork skills Requirements Comprehensive background check and fingerprint screening Child abuse and neglect registry check Health screening documentation Completion of required childcare training hours Drug Screening Physical Requirements Ability to lift infants and equipment up to 40 pounds Frequent bending, sitting on the floor, and standing Ability to respond quickly to children’s needs Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour Benefits: Dental insurance Health insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Work Location: In person
