Mechanical Designer
As a Mechanical Designer, you will consult with clients to determine requirements for designs, research product usage, and create sketches or renderings to visualize design ideas. You will utilize computer software to develop virtual models, create physical prototypes, and examine materials and production costs to determine manufacturing requirements. Collaborating with other specialists, you will evaluate product safety, appearance, and function, and present designs and prototypes to clients for approval.ResponsibilitiesConsult with clients to determine design requirements.Research product usage and applications.Create sketches or renderings to visualize design ideas.Develop virtual models using computer software.Create physical prototypes of designs.Examine materials and production costs for manufacturing.Collaborate with mechanical engineers and manufacturers.Evaluate product safety, appearance, and functionality.Present designs and prototypes to clients.Essential Skills3-5 years of design experience in design for manufacturability using CREOProficiency in mechanical design, GD&T, and CREO.Ability to perform tolerance analysis on assemblies.Experience with coefficient of thermal expansion in design.Capability to design products to withstand shock and vibration.Familiarity with manufacturing processes.Ability to design to customer requirements.Strong teamwork and coordination skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsOptics experience is a plus.Experience in the oil fields designing equipment.Experience with industrial and military products.Work EnvironmentWork in a fast-paced engineering services firm located in Plano, TX. The role involves designing military components and core products, focusing on durability and functionality in challenging conditions.
