Controller
Position Overview:
ECS Environmental Solutions is seeking an experienced and strategic Controller to oversee all accounting operations. This leadership role is responsible for financial reporting, cash flow management, internal controls, and regulatory compliance and will help drive budgeting and forecasting. The Controller will play a critical role in supporting operational efficiency and long-term growth.
The ideal candidate will bring strong GAAP knowledge, leadership capability, project-based accounting experience, and advanced expertise in QuickBooks. CPA certification is a plus.
KEY RESPONSABILITIES:
Financial Leadership & Reporting
Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, AP/AR, and job costing.
Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Manage month-end and year-end close processes.
Provide financial analysis and strategic insight to executive leadership.
Monitor and manage cash flow, forecasting, and working capital.
QuickBooks Expertise
Serve as the company’s QuickBooks expert (Enterprise preferred)
Maintain chart of accounts, job costing structures, and financial controls.
Ensure system accuracy and data integrity.
Optimize workflows and reporting capabilities within QuickBooks.
Train and support staff on accounting best practices
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal and state regulations.
Coordinate with external CPA for tax filings and audits.
Maintain and strengthen internal control systems.
Team Leadership & Process Improvement
Supervise accounting personnel.
Improve accounting processes and internal efficiencies.
Partner with operations to enhance job costing accuracy and profitability tracking.
QUALIFICTAIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in construction, environmental services, or project-based industries
Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks (Enterprise preferred)
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills
CPA certification a plus
