About GRO Community
God Restoring Order (GRO) Community is a mental healthcare provider that specializes in trauma recovery services for males of color ages 5 and up. GRO services are grounded in an understanding of the neurological, biological and psychological effects of trauma. GRO services include mental health and wellness, stress management, and community outreach.
Position Summary
Under the guidance of the CFO and Director of Finance, the staff accountant will ensure that GRO Community is adhering to GAAP, Federal, state and local grant reporting requirements.
The Staff Accountant supports the financial operations of the organization by maintaining accurate and timely general ledger entries, assisting with month-end and year-end closings, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting standards. This position plays a critical role in providing accurate financial data to support decision-making and maintain fiscal accountability across departments.
Responsibilities
Maintain monthly bank and credit card reconciliations and report on any discrepancies
Assist Accounting Manager and CFO in audit preparation and annual tax filings
Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual funder reports including the creation and submission of grant invoices in a timely and accurate matter
Assist in identifying and analyzing budget variances
Assist the revenue department as necessary
Be able to visit our office on-site twice weekly
Assist in maintaining platforms operated by the finance department e.g. bill.com, Fyle, and Quickbooks Online
Manage Accounts Payable and reconcile Accounts Receivable

(2) days onsite at our Chicago, IL 60620 Admin Office and (3) remote days.
Monday-Friday/40 hours per week; 9a-5p CST
Qualifications
Minimum of bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent required.
Accounting certification programs (such as CPA) desired
Experience
Minimum of (1) year relevant experience
Experience with grant billing, collections and accounting highly preferred
Knowledge of medical billing preferred
Minimum of (1) year of GAAP experience preferred
