In the absence of the Head Coach, the Graduate Assistant assumes full responsibility for the team.Specific ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities for Graduate Assistant Coaching Position:Include, But Are Not Limited ToEffectively recruit qualified student-athletes, meeting the annual goal set by Admissions & AthleticsAttend recruitment trips, as needed, to recruit student athletesCoordinate and implement NCAA official and non-official on campus recruiting visitsEffectively retain student-athletes through regular engagement and monitoringAssist with all aspects of practice and game preparation and implementation including individual player developmentConduct regular and individual monitoring and mentoring sessions to assist student-athlete's academic endeavors resulting in strong retention and graduation ratesAssist with the development and implementation of fundraising activitiesAssist with the planning and development of community service activitiesWork with various campus constituents such as admissions, facilities, development, academic advising, etc.Assist the head coach with alumni and family relations activitiesMaintain a working knowledge of all NCAA and conference rules and regulationsAssist in general sport specific field/facility maintenanceProvide supervision and staffing of athletic events and special events as assignedWork with the head coach to supervise the team at all off campus competitionsServe as additional travel coordinator for all team trips including confirming transportation, departure times as well as coordinate meals for the team while away from campusCoordinate all practice and game times with Assistant &Associate Athletic DirectorsDuties/Additional ResponsibilitiesEnsure compliance with all University, Conference, and NCAA rules and bylawsAssist with Game Operation and Game Management as neededAdditional responsibilities as assigned by the Head Coach and Associate Vice President of Athletics and RecreationRequired Skills/AbilitiesMust have sport specific knowledgePrevious recruiting and coaching experienceAbility to perform sport specific drills, demonstrate activities, and setup sport specific training aids/facilityAbility to work nights, weekends, and travel as needed for competitions and recruitingStrong interpersonal skills to communicate with student athletes, coaches, campus community, and alumni.Time management skillsProficient with Microsoft Office SuiteBasic video knowledge preferredUnderstand and monitor the teams' social media accountUnderstanding and commitment to the mission and purpose of Manhattanville UniversityQualificationsBachelor's DegreeCollegiate or professional playing experienceValid Driver's LicenseApplicants must be legally authorized to work in the United StatesEducation: Bachelor's Degree RequiredPhysical RequirementsLifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects.Organizing, transporting, and setting up team specific training aids and facility maintenanceSalary$5,000 Stipend paid over 10 monthsTuition Remission (9 credits per semester)Subject to maintaining a 3.0 GPA each semester for a maximum of four academic semesters.Summer classes are subject to approvalOn-Campus Housing (dorm style only; single room not an option)Limited Meal PlanHours ExpectationPart-time, average load of 20 hours per week over the duration of the appointment periodAbility to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, overnights and weekends.Travel to competition(s) as assignedManhattanville University is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
