The State of New Hampshire, Department of Military Affairs and Veterans Services has a full-time vacancy for Building Cleaning Worker.Summary:To serve as a lead and/or point person and provide a full range of cleaning, custodial or janitorial duties associated with the care, cleaning, and maintenance of multiple buildings at assigned location.YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent credential.License/Certification: Valid driver's licenseOther Requirements: Must be able to satisfactorily undergo a State Police records check. Must be in good physical condition and have sufficient strength to do heavy lifting, climbing, balancing, walking, stooping and handling equipment and materials to perform cleaning duties. Trainee Option: Not applicablePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience providing cleaning services for a large complex, facility or building. Knowledge and understanding of the safe handling of solvents, chemicals and disinfectants. An employee in trainee status shall meet the minimum qualifications within the period of time specified on the SJD, not to exceed one year of being hired into this position.Responsibilities:DETAILED TASKS (AGENCY/POSITION-SPECIFIC):Leads and collaborates with other cleaning staff to ensure consistent and efficient cleaning operations. Adheres to cleaning schedules and completes tasks and projects within designated timeframes. Ensures quality and that health and safety standards are being followed. Recommends changes to standard operational procedures to supervisor.Interacts with federal personnel, state employees, and/or contractors. Investigates complaints about cleanliness, service, or equipment issues and takes corrective actions on-site. Responds to immediate safety and/or maintenance concerns; refers escalated issues for resolution to supervisor.Completes daily activity reports, logs, or notes as necessary. Inventories stock to ensure supplies and equipment are available in adequate amounts and orders or advises the supervisor of what is needed.Performs light to heavy physical custodial activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and whole-body movement, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, or handling equipment and materials to perform cleaning duties, such as dusting, vacuuming, stripping/buffing/waxing floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls, and glass, and disinfecting.Applies appropriate solvents, chemicals, and disinfectants; removes contaminated and non-contaminated waste from buildings/facilities; disposes of waste in a prescribed manner; adheres to health and safety requirements relevant to the work area or facility; and uses personal protective equipment (PPE), as required.Cleans and disinfects restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and fixtures. Ensures restrooms are maintained for cleanliness and are fully stocked with essential supplies. Cleans high traffic areas within facilities to include entryways, foyers, lobbies, main hallways and locker rooms. Sanitizes high-touch areas such as door handles, light switches and countertops.
