Position Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Controller to lead the accounting and financial reporting functions for a growing company. This is not a purely managerial role. The ideal candidate will be actively involved in day-to-day accounting operations while providing leadership, financial insight, and process improvements across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Manage all accounting and financial reporting activities.
Lead and participate in month-end and year-end close processes.
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and supporting schedules.
Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and cash management functions.
Maintain strong internal controls and accounting procedures.
Manage audit, banking, tax, and compliance activities.
Lead, develop, and mentor the accounting team.
Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, job profitability, and strategic financial analysis.
Drive process improvements and system optimization initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
CPA or CMA preferred.
8+ years of progressive accounting experience with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Must be a hands-on accounting leader who is willing and able to roll up their sleeves and work in the details when needed.
Strong job costing experience is required, preferably within project-based, construction, labor, event services, or related industries.
Thorough knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (F&O) experience is a major plus.
Experience supporting multi-location operations.
Experience with ERP implementations, reporting tools, and process automation.
Knowledge of Union labor is a HUGE plus!
