Pharmaceutical Process Engineer – Installation & Commissioning

Job Summary:We are seeking an experienced Pharmaceutical Process Engineer to support large-scale engineering and automation projects for a leading biotechnology client in Rensselaer, NY. This role will focus on installation, commissioning, startup, and design support for new and existing pharmaceutical manufacturing process areas. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on pharmaceutical equipment installation experience, the ability to work independently, and prior exposure to GMP-regulated manufacturing environments.Key Responsibilities:Support installation, commissioning, and startup activities for pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment and process systemsAssist in bringing new manufacturing/process areas online within GMP-regulated facilitiesProvide engineering support for instrumentation, alarms, utilities, and process equipmentParticipate in detailed design reviews and engineering support for capital projects and facility expansionsCoordinate cross-functionally with manufacturing, automation, validation, facilities, and process engineering teamsTroubleshoot equipment and process-related issues during installation and operational phasesSupport alarm testing, system checks, and commissioning activitiesReview and interpret engineering documentation including P&IDs, layouts, specifications, and process flow diagramsManage multiple engineering priorities in a fast-paced project environmentIdentify process gaps and proactively drive engineering solutions with minimal supervisionRequired Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering5+ years of pharmaceutical or biotech engineering experienceHands-on experience installing and supporting pharmaceutical manufacturing equipmentStrong understanding of GMP manufacturing environmentsExperience supporting large-scale capital projectsAbility to work independently and manage competing priorities effectivelyStrong communication and cross-functional collaboration skillsPreferred Qualifications:Experience working with bioreactors, WFI systems, clean utilities, and process instrumentationExposure to automation systems, alarms, and commissioning activitiesPrior experience in biologics or life sciences manufacturing environmentsFamiliarity with startup, CQV, FAT/SAT, or process validation activities
