Our focus on lifestyle medicine and value-based care aligns with our mission to deliver compassionate, high-quality care!The Role:The Float Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to our patients under the supervision of a charge nurse.What You'll Do:Provide professional nursing care to our patients under the supervision of a charge nurse. Guaranteed 30 hours per week (fluctuating up to 40 hours per week, based on the needs of the organization). This is considered a full-time role with benefits, even at 30 hours! Must be willing to work/travel to all Health by Design Clinic locations in San Antonio. Shifts will always be between the hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm. Explore our beautiful clinics virtually: https://www.thefundsa.org/videogallery/#locationsDuties/Responsibilities:Assesses, triages, plans, provides, and evaluates patient care for a designated shift or clinic ensuring execution of physician orders and in accordance with company policy and proceduresMay delegate work to licensed vocational nurse (LVN) or medical assistants (MA) (as needed and depending on locations)Assists physician with procedures, dressing changes, and administering medicationsPerforms phlebotomy and other lab tests, monitors blood pressure, blood sugar, EKG and other vital measurements as ordered by the physicianCoordinates with patients regarding scheduling office visits, follow up for test results, medication refills, referrals, and insurance issuesProvides patient health and wellness education; informally and through the Health by Design Health and Nutritional Coaching ProgramsAdministers allergy and other injections as ordered by patient's personal physician or allergist per Health by Design policies and proceduresResponds to a variety of medical emergencies that present to the clinicDocuments patient care and codes visits appropriately in the patient electronic medical recordsAssists with coding and claims on patient encounters as needed under guidance of the charge nurseAssists the charge nurse as needed to maintain a functional clinicMay function independently under standing orders when neededMay serve as team leader in the absence of the Clinic Charge NurseServes as a steward for Health by Design philosophy and resourcesPerforms necessary administrative responsibilities, to include, but not be limited to, answering phone calls and voicemails, scheduling appointments, scanning and faxing patient documents, to ensure optimal clinic workflowBachelor's Degree preferred but will accept Associate Degree or Hospital Diploma with equivalent experienceMinimum of two years nursing experience (direct patient care)Registered Nurse License in the state where services are provided (Compact License preferred, not required).BLS CertifiedAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusionsAbility to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, patients, and other employeesBasic nursing skills to include the ability to respond to emergenciesBasic mathematical skillsExcellent interpersonal and customer service skillsExcellent computer skills with respect to working with an Electronic Medical RecordPreferred Skills:Computer skills to include, but not limited to, electronic medical records, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.Ability to perform phlebotomy and other lab collections, EKGs, wound care, nebulizer treatments, allergy injectionsAbility to operate and maintain the clinic medical equipmentAfter employee orientation, the above preferred skills will become required for the position.
