CNC Machinist and Programmer – 5-AxisFabri is seeking an exceptional 5-Axis CNC Machinist and Programmer to build and lead our machining capability from the ground up. This is a high-ownership, hands-on role for someone who thrives in startup environments and to help define the machining backbone of a next-generation digital foundry from day one.You will be the founding machining hire, responsible for machine-selection, set-ups, programming, operating, and maintaining 5-axis CNC machines to support finishing of complex cast and additively manufactured metal parts. This is a high-growth role with opportunities to build out and lead a machining team as our finishing capabilities expand, as well as work with the process development teams on innovative finishing and inspection solutions.The CompanyWe are an early-stage investment casting startup building a fully integrated digital foundry. We foster an environment where safety and commitment to quality are central in everything we do.The RoleAs the Founding 5-Axis Machinist, you will:Build Fabri’s machining capability from scratchOwn machining strategy end-to-end: equipment, tooling, fixturing, programming, inspection, and workflowsPersonally run, maintain and program machines while building Fabri’s longer term finishing capabilitiesApply first-principles reasoning to solve the difficult dimensional, workholding and finishing challenges of metal castings for critical aerospace and defense applicationsWork closely with casting, additive, and metrology teams to close the loop between design intent, process physics, and final part qualityYou will report directly to the COO and play a central role in shaping Fabri’s long-term manufacturing and operations roadmap.ResponsibilitiesProgram, set up, and operate 5-axis CNC machines for complex metal partsDevelop machining strategies for critical aerospace castings, including support removal, degating and innovative fixturing and inspection strategiesOwn tooling, fixturing, probing, and CAM workflowsBuild and maintain Fabri’s machine shop from scratch: buy decisions for machines, tooling, fixtures, probes etc.Troubleshoot dimensional and GD&T-related issues and feed learnings back to casting and additive teamsWork with the software team to encode machining strategies into the FoundryOSDefine inspection strategies in collaboration with metrologyEstablish machining standards and scalable workflowsQualifications3+ Years as a 5-axis machinist, with both CAM programing and operating experienceProven success machining castings or additively manufactured metal partsStrong command of GD&T and tolerance-driven decision makingSolid intuition for machining physics (cutting forces, stiffness, deflection, thermal effects)Comfortable owning machines end-to-end in a startup environmentStrong communication skills and cross-functional mindsetFabri does not provide visa sponsorship for this position.
