Work Year: 190 Days July - JunePOSITION SUMMARYWe are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Controller / Payroll Manager to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, payroll administration, and compliance activities. This role ensures accurate financial management while maintaining timely and compliant payroll processing for all employees. The ideal candidate combines strong accounting expertise with hands-on payroll management experience and leadership skills.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESFinancial Management & Accounting? Oversee daily accounting operations including, balance sheet, general ledger, and bank reconciliations? Ensure compliance with GAAP, GASB, federal, state, and local financial regulations? Assist in coordination of audits and work with external accountants and auditors? Maintain internal controls and accounting policies? Monitor financial performance and recommend process improvements? Develop written Standard Operation Procedures & Policies.? Other duties as assignedPayroll Administration? Process payroll accurately and on schedule for hourly and salaried employees? Coordinate employee benefit deductions and payroll-related reporting? Maintain & reconcile payroll records, deductions, garnishments, benefits, and tax withholdings ? Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws, payroll tax regulations, and reporting requirements? Prepare and file payroll tax reports including W-2s, 1099s, and quarterly filings? Provide and maintain updated PERA information for PERA and staff.? Manage payroll systems and troubleshoot discrepancies? Works closely with Athletic Director to update sponsor and coaching staff lists; Prepare sponsor and coaching contracts and distribute? Prepare workers' compensation audit.? Manage payroll portion of FMLA? Maintain thorough understanding and application of district policies, rules, regulations and procedures regarding payroll, benefits, taxes, unemployment, health insurance, 401K, 403b and PERA. 1? Develop written Standard Operation Procedures & Policies.Leadership & Administration? Develop and implement efficient financial and payroll procedures? Collaborate with HR on employee compensation and benefits administration? Support executive leadership with financial analysis and reporting? Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and company information? Other duties as assignedQualifications? Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field? 5+ years of accounting and payroll management experience? Strong knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and accounting principles? Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Workplace and financial reporting tools? Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills? 3+ years of administrator level experience in the District's general ledger platform, AptaFund & AA WebLICENSES & CERTIFICATION? CPA certification preferred but not requiredLOCATION? Preferred in the District Office. Remote/Hybrid will be considered
