TE4 Construction Who We Are Looking ForLicensed Professional EngineerProblem solverEffective communicatorGood leadership and mentoring skillsExperience in management of construction projectsGood organizational skillsKnowledge of construction specifications and contract requirementsWhat You Will Be DoingAct as Staff Specialist managing construction projects within the Construction DepartmentSupport assigned project staff in the performance of highway construction projects and the testing functions to ensure compliance with contract plans and specificationsReview and evaluate construction or plan issues in the fieldAuthorize the need for revisions to the plans and review change orders on projectsReview Progress Schedules and recommend extension of completion dates and assessment of Liquidated DamagesNegotiate prices for extra work and new items of work needed on the projectsReviews and coordinates flow of project submittals, including shop drawings, lab reports, RFI’s, dispute documentation, etc.Review project staffing and equipment needs and assignment of staff and equipment based on projectManagement of assigned staff, including approval of Kronos & EIMS time, employee evaluations, approval of training, etc.Mentoring of assigned staff to ensure proper administration, inspection, and documentation is being completedMeet with contractors, local agencies, and public to resolve project issues and complaintsConduct and participate in construction project meetings (preconstruction meetings, progress meetings, partnering meetings, etc.)Involvement in project development prior to project award, including scope meetings, scope reviews, plan/constructability reviews, prebid questions, etc.Benefits To YouAt least a 14% employer contribution in to your OPERS pension planPay increases pursuant to the Ohio Revised CodeWork/Life BalanceThe opportunity to work on an important missionPosition designated Career Professional per Section 5501.20Licensed as registered professional engineer by Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 2 yrs. exp. as group or project leader or supervisor providing work direction & training to employees engaged in engineering projects or 2 yrs. exp. in managing engineering research projects (i.e., managing research projects applies only to staff specialist positions); if assigned to operate a state vehicle to travel to & inspect project sites, must possess valid driver’s license.Or licensed as registered professional engineer by Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 12 mos. exp. as Transportation Engineer 3, 85643; if assigned to operate a state vehicle to travel to & inspect project sites, must possess valid driver’s license.Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience required, but not for the mandated registration.All candidates applying for employment opportunities should be authorized to work in the United States.
