Maintenance Mechanic

Thank you for your interest in Pittsford Schools! The Pittsford Central School District is looking for a Maintenance Mechanic. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of building, installation, maintenance and repair tasks in one or more of the electrical, mechanical or construction trades such as carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical repair, welding, sheet metal work, auto mechanics, masonry, sewage facilities maintenance, and water distribution systems. General instructions are received regarding work of ordinary difficulty and detailed instructions are given for new or difficult assignments. Work will be reviewed by an immediate supervisor or other higher level staff member. The candidate will need to possess the ability to do related work as required. This is a 12-month, 260 workday, 7am-4pm Monday-Friday position. TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES : (All need not be performed in a given position. Other related activities may be performed although not listed.)Perform a wide variety of tasks of ordinary difficulty relating to the electrical, mechanical, or construction tradesInstall, maintain, repair, replace and rebuild electrical fixtures, equipment and wiring systemsInstall, maintain, repair, replace and rebuild plumbing equipment and systems including, but not limited to, faucets, toilet fixtures, and drinking fountainsInstall, maintain, repair and rebuild sewer and municipal water distribution systemsPerform steam fitting, forging, welding, sheet metal fabricating or machine shop activitiesMix plaster and concrete and is responsible for laying bricks and blocks, plastering walls, finishing concrete work, stone cutting, and related masonry workInstall and perform routine repairs of carpets, floors, ceilings, insulating materials, roofs, gutter systems, weather stripping, paneling, shelves, doors, windows and other parts of buildingsMake, assemble, install, repair, maintain, rebuild, and refinish furniture, floors, doors, walls, cabinets, stairs, and other wood products, equipment and structuresPrepare, paint and/or refinish wood, metal and other surfacesInstall, maintain and/or repair upholstery, glass, clocks, meters and other miscellaneous itemsPerform mechanical repairs on automobiles, trucks, tractors and other mechanical and motorized equipmentInstall and maintain signs, traffic islands and place road markings using hand-operated machinery or pre-formed markingsOil and grease equipment such as cranes, air compressors, and air hoists and perform necessary repair workOperate automobiles, trucks, air compressors, riding/push lawnmowers, snowplows and other motorized equipmentPerform ground maintenance work, such as fence installation and repair, sign fabrication and repair, equipment (including athletic) repair, lawn cutting and maintenance (such as trimming, planting, weeding) and ice and snow treatment and removal Thank you for your interest, please apply online.
