This role leads the development and execution of compensation strategy across all geographies (US, Canada and India), ensuring programs are market competitive, equitable, compliant, and aligned with business objectives.Reporting to the Head, Global Total Rewards & Payroll, the Principal Director serves as the primary architect of global compensation strategy while also providing strong execution oversight across annual compensation cycles, job architecture, market pricing, pay equity, and regulatory compliance. The role balances strategic thought leadership with disciplined operational governance, enabling scalable, data driven compensation practices that support talent attraction, retention, and performance. Leads a global team and will work cross-functionally.Job ResponsibilitiesGlobal Compensation Strategy & DesignLead the design and evolution of the global compensation strategy, including base pay, incentive programs, job architecture, and market positioning.Serve as a strategic advisor to the VP of Global Total Rewards & Payroll and senior leadership on compensation philosophy, risk, competitiveness, and cost implications.Evaluate external market trends, regulatory developments, and emerging compensation practices to inform strategy and program design.Develop multi year compensation roadmaps aligned to business growth, talent strategy, and financial objectives.Annual Compensation Programs & IncentivesProvide strategic and operational leadership for annual and mid year compensation cycles, including merit, promotions, and incentive programs.Ensure consistent, disciplined execution of compensation processes across all regions and employee populations.Partner closely with Finance, People & Culture Business Partners, and Payroll to ensure accurate funding, modeling, and executionJob Architecture, Leveling & Market PricingOwn global job architecture, leveling standards, and governance to ensure internal equity, consistency, and market alignment.Oversee job evaluation, job matching, and market pricing processes across all geographies.Ensure alignment between job structures, career framework, and compensation programs.Pay Equity, Compliance & Risk ManagementLead global pay equity analyses and remediation planning in partnership with Legal, Finance, and P&C.Ensure compensation programs and practices comply with applicable local, state, federal, and international regulations.Establish strong controls, documentation, and audit readiness to support compliance and governance requirements.Data, Analytics & Decision SupportLeverage compensation data and analytics to inform decision making, cost management, and workforce planning.Provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership on compensation trends, risks, and opportunities.Support executive and Board level reporting related to compensation programs and outcomes.Team Leadership & Cross Functional PartnershipLead, coach, and develop a global compensation team, including analysts and managers supporting execution and analytics.Partner closely with P&C Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, P&C Operations, Payroll, Finance, and Legal.Establish clear operating rhythms, accountability, and development paths for the compensation function.Communication & EnablementOversee development of compensation policies, guidelines, tools, and training materials.Ensure people leaders and People & Culture partners are equipped to effectively communicate and apply compensation programs.Promote transparency and understanding of compensation philosophy and practices across the organizationGlobal Team Leadership & DevelopmentProvides day-to-day leadership and direction to global compensation team members responsible for program administration, analytics, and cycle execution.Lead, coach, and support compensation analysts and managers to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant execution of compensation programs.Set clear priorities, performance expectations, and work plans aligned to global annual compensation calendars and business needs.Adhere to Envestnet’s legal, compliance, risk, business continuity, and administrative policies, including timely completion of all required training, certifications, affirmations, and testing.Understand and actively support Envestnet’s corporate business practices, internal controls, and procedures designed to create value and mitigate risk.Required Qualifications10+ years of progressive experience in compensation, including global program oversight.Demonstrated experience designing and governing compensation programs in complex, multi geography environments.Deep expertise in job architecture, market pricing, annual compensation cycles, and pay equity.Proven ability to balance strategic leadership with hands on execution and compliance oversight.Experience leading teams and influencing senior stakeholders.Experience managing external vendors and consultants.Act with the highest level of integrity and sensitivity, especially working with people dataDemonstrated high-level of emotional intelligence leading high-performing global teams and working with employees.Willingness to travel as needed.Preferred QualificationsExperience operating within a global Total Rewards or enterprise job architecture framework.Strong analytical and data driven decision making capabilities.Familiarity with executive compensation, incentive design, and governance processes.Prior proven
