Controls Engineer

If you’re the kind of engineer who likes taking automation projects from concept to commissioning, writing code, solving problems on the floor, and seeing your systems actually run, this one’s worth a look. This is a controls engineering role with a growing team that designs and delivers full automation solutions for manufacturing and process environments. The projects are varied, everything from new system installs to retooling and upgrades, with a balance of office-based design and field commissioning. You’d be part of a small, technical group where you’ll get real project ownership and exposure to both hardware and software. What you’ll be doing * Designing, programming, and commissioning PLC and HMI systems for manufacturing and process projects. * Assisting with electrical design, including schematics, I/O mapping, and device integration. * Leading smaller automation projects and supporting larger ones as part of a team. * Traveling to customer sites for startup, testing, and production support (roughly 25–35% travel). * Interfacing directly with customers and vendors to gather requirements and resolve issues. * Creating and maintaining project documentation — task lists, issue logs, and closeout reports. * Providing weekly progress updates to the project team. What you’ll need * Degree in Electrical, Computer, or Controls Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. * Hands-on experience with PLC/HMI programming (Rockwell, Siemens, or similar). * Familiarity with controls hardware and electrical design fundamentals. * Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. * Willingness to travel for commissioning and onsite work. It’s a plus if you have * Experience with robot integration, motion control, or safety systems. * Knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical or similar design tools. * Prior exposure to automation projects in manufacturing, material handling, or process industries.
