You will play a pivotal role in designing our internal platform, scaling infrastructure, and setting the standards for reliability and automation across the organization. You’ll help build the foundational backend of a product with massive market pull.This is an intense, hands-on Engineering role with full ownership. We expect you to push for excellence and raise the bar.📍 Location: Remote with overlap to our New York City HQ (EST)Where you'll create impactLead the initial setup of our DevOps and platform engineering practices, defining standards, tooling, and infrastructure strategyDesign and deliver an internal platform for personal or feature environments to empower developers and improve velocityBuild and maintain AWS-based infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, scalability, and securityDevelop CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployments and automate release processesImplement observability tooling (logging, monitoring, alerting) to detect and resolve issues proactivelyCollaborate closely with developers to identify bottlenecks, improve delivery, and enhance system reliabilityEnsure high availability and uptime through effective monitoring, incident response, and recovery strategiesPromote infrastructure automation and Infrastructure as Code best practicesDocument systems, configurations, and incident processes for team-wide clarity and consistencyParticipate in on-call rotations or coordinate time zone coverage to ensure 24-hour reliability across regionsWhat sets you up for successHardcore work ethic and high agency8+ years of experience in backend engineeringProven track record in high-growth, high-ownership environmentsStrong skills in PostgreSQL, SQL, ORMs, migrations, and schema designExperience with AWS or comparable cloud infrastructureStrong API design and testing experienceUnderstanding of CI/CD, deployment, and production readinessBonus: expertise in Python and modern frameworks (FastAPI, Flask, or Django)Ability to manage complex systems with evolving requirementsFluent English (C1+) with clear communicationHow You OperatePragmatic: you like to move forward and make decisions based in reality (not theory).
