Electric Utility - Field Technician

About the Role: The Field Technician works in a variety of work environments to examine utility poles, troubleshoot issues, and provide accurate reports back to the company. This role is crucial in supporting the infrastructure of utility services such as electricity and telecommunications. Field Technicians are responsible for performing a range of tasks to ensure the reliability and safety of utility pole networks. Duties & Responsibilities:Identify and correctly record all different attachments (utility and telecom) on electric distribution polesRecord span lengths and angle bearings between two structuresIdentify National Electric Safety Code (NESC) violationsIdentify appropriate electric conductor sizesIdentify all appropriate equipment and attaching hardware on distribution polesUtilize an insulated, telescoping, fiberglass measuring stick to record the attachment height of any hardware/conductors installed on electric poles. (Contact to energized components will be made using the insulated stick)Read and interpret maps and construction prints to ensure accuracy, and identify discrepancies between the field construction and the design specsUpload pictures to the designated spaces for the design team in the officeEnsure work is completed efficiently and to design specificationsFollow safety protocols and procedures at all timesNavigate independently to new locations provided by the design teamWork independently or with a partner in the field and maintain streamlined communication with the field coordinators and with the office through detailed notes on the maps.Ability to work independently in various weather conditions and field environments.Perform other duties as assigned Required Qualifications:A positive, helpful attitudeExcellent written and verbal communication, with strong interpersonal skillsExcellent organizational skills with attention to detail, multitasking ability, and strong analytical and problem solving skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)Willing to work extended hours, including weekends, and travel 100% of the timeAbility to perform physical labor in various weather conditions for extended periodsMust currently be eligible to work in the United States of AmericaHigh School diploma or GEDAbove all, a tenacious work ethic is a necessityAbility to pass a drug test, background check, and Motor Vehicle Record check Preferred Qualifications:Strong photography skills for field documentationExperience using compasses, range finders, and geographic data recording toolsFirst Aid, AED, CPR CertificationOSHA 10/30 CertificationDefensive Driving Training Physical Requirements:Work is performed outdoors with exposure to weather including and not limited to excessive heat, excessive cold, and extreme weather conditionsRequires standing and walking continuously throughout the day, covering approximately 5-15 milesFrequent driving over long distances in varying weather conditionsMust be able to meet the physical and cognitive requirements to operate a vehicle safely, including maintaining alertness and orientation while drivingAbility to lift, carry, and push up to 50+ pounds on a regular basisMust be able to work under stressful conditions to meet deadlines and company needs Reports to: Project Manager Working environment: Outdoors Job Type: Full-time, Hourly Non-Exempt Travel: 100% travel; overnight Location: Varies Schedule: 4 10 hour days a week #TS25
