About the JobBancroft Construction Services is seeking an experienced Field Biologist (General Biological Monitor or Designated Biologist) to support environmental compliance and construction monitoring for projects in and around Fresno County, CA. This role is ideal for a motivated biologist with strong Swainson's hawk experience who thrives in dynamic field environments and enjoys working collaboratively with construction and environmental teams.This is a full-time position with consistent project work across multiple active job sites.**** **** Position SummaryThis field-based role involves conducting focused species surveys—with an emphasis on Swainson's hawk—monitoring construction activities, implementing avoidance and minimization measures, and documenting compliance with federal, state, and project-specific environmental permits. The position requires the ability to work independently in fast-paced outdoor and construction environments while coordinating closely with project teams.ResponsibilitiesConduct focused surveys for special-status species, with a primary focus on Swainson's hawkPerform nesting bird surveys and monitoring in accordance with regulatory requirementsProvide biological construction monitoring and environmental inspectionsConduct pre-construction surveys and ongoing compliance monitoringImplement avoidance and minimization measures (WEAPs, ESAs, buffers, exclusion zones)Monitor and maintain wildlife exclusion fencingCollect and manage field data using GPS and mobile applications (e.g., ArcGIS Field Maps, Fulcrum)Prepare accurate daily logs, reports, and compliance documentationCoordinate directly with construction crews, project managers, and environmental staffQualifications & SkillsMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, or related fieldMinimum 2+ years of field biology or construction monitoring experienceDemonstrated experience with Swainson's hawk surveys and monitoringExperience conducting nesting bird surveys and implementing buffersValid U.S. Driver's License and ability to travel independently throughout the regionAbility to work outdoors in variable weather and terrain conditionsStrong attention to detail, organization, and communication skillsFlexible schedule, including early mornings, weekends, and potential travelU.S. Citizenship requiredPreferred QualificationsDesignated Biologist or General Biological Monitor authorizationExperience working on large-scale infrastructure or transportation projectsFamiliarity with Central Valley and Inland Empire habitats and speciesExperience working directly with contractors and leading compliance effortsWork EnvironmentThis position is field-intensive and may involve:Long hours outdoors in varying weather conditionsWalking or hiking on uneven terrain while carrying field equipmentWorking in active construction sites around heavy equipmentRegular travel to the Cantua Creek, CA areaCompensation & Employment StatusHourly Rate: $45–$60/hour (based on experience and qualifications)Employment Type: Full-TimeBenefits eligibility will be discussed during the hiring processEqual Opportunity EmployerBancroft Construction Services is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
