Part Time Music Director/Organist
OverviewMt. Carmel UMC, a vibrant and welcoming church in Peachtree Corners, is seeking a part time music director to lead in both instrumental and choral music on Sunday mornings. Mt. Carmel has a strong music program with highly experienced singers. We will be celebrating our 200th anniversary this August and are looking for an individual who can help us enter into this new and exciting season of serving our community through quality worship.ResponsibilitiesSelect and perform organ/piano music for 10:00 Sunday morning serviceDirect and accompany the Chancel Choir at the 10:00 Sunday morning serviceSelect and perform organ/choral music for special services of worship, including but not limited to:Maundy ThursdayGood Friday (choral program)Longest Night ServiceChristmas EveRehearse weekly with the choir (and conduct additional rehearsals when necessary for special services)Works with Pastor, choir members and other laity to encourage and implement the recruitment of new Chancel Choir members and other musical celebrants for WorshipDevelop, submit, and manage an annual budget for music ministriesPurchase chancel choir music within the budgetProvide support and guidance for other musicians within the congregationPlan regularly with the ministerial staff and lay leadership to integrate music into the life of the church by attending Council on Ministry Meetings (bi-monthly) and Worship Committee meetings (approximately quarterly) and seasonal specific (Lent and Advent) meetings with the PastorManage the maintenance needs of the organ and piano in cooperation with the Board of Trustees and the Finance CommitteeHoursPart-time salaried position, approximately 15 hours per week, including worship services, rehearsals, and preparation timeSchedule may fluctuate seasonally (e.g., Advent, Lent, Holy Week, special services)QualificationsProficiency in organ and piano accompaniment with experience in church or liturgical settings preferredExperience accompanying choirs and congregational singingAbility to adapt to varying musical styles and service needsStrong collaborative and communication skillsDependability, punctuality, and professional preparationFamiliarity with, or openness to, learning the traditions and worship practices of the congregationMust pass a background checkPreferred but not required - a college degree in musicJ-18808-Ljbffr
