The role involves producing close-tolerance aerospace parts and tooling using CNC lathes, mills, and 5-axis laser equipment. The ideal candidate is experienced in working with various metal alloys, interpreting complex engineering drawings, and maintaining high standards of quality. Moderate physical activity is required, including lifting, bending, and prolonged standing.RESPONSIBILITIESSet up and operate CNC lathes, mills, and 5-axis CNC laser machinesConfigure fixtures, vises, and rotary tables for accurate machining and cutting operationsPick up part and fixture locations to establish proper machining and cutting planesMachine and cut parts to required tolerances and dimensions based on engineering drawingsPerform mathematical calculations for angular and linear dimensions during fabrication and setupSelect proper tooling and perform tool setup, including hand-grinding tools when necessaryInspect parts using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators, etc.) to ensure compliance with specificationsIdentify, troubleshoot, and resolve machining or laser-related issues in a timely mannerCommunicate machine, program, or quality issues to management promptlyMaintain consistent quality and accuracy standards while meeting production requirementsFollow all engineering, traveler, and shop instructionsCollaborate with team members and support cross-functional shop operationsPerform additional duties as assignedOn-Site: This role is required to be on-site 4 days (4PM-2:30AM)) at the El Cajon, CA location.QualificationsEXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONSMinimum of three (3)+ years of combined CNC machining and/or 5-axis laser experience.Strong background in CNC lathe and mill setup, operation, and program editingExperience setting up and operating 5-axis CNC laser machinesStrong manual machining background preferredProven ability to machine close-tolerance aerospace parts and minor toolingAbility to read and interpret blueprints, engineering instructions, and traveler documentsProficiency in working with dimensions and tolerances in both metric and inch formatsKnowledge of various material types, including metal alloys, and proper machining methodsUnderstanding of feeds and speeds for different materials and processesAbility to troubleshoot machining and laser cutting issues, including tool wear, breakage, and program errorsExperience editing CNC/NC programs and making minor adjustments as neededAbility to work and communicate effectively with others and follow direction from supervisorsWillingness to work on various assignments within or outside the machine shop/laser as neededThis position requires access to information, or technology, which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
