Process Engineer

In this role, the candidate will work with the Technical Sales team to understand customer requirements and provide quotes and estimated times to complete specific projects and customer orders. The Process Engineer will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining processes for electronic components and assemblies. This role will focus on improving efficiency, maintaining quality standards, and industry compliance throughout production and testing operations. The Process Engineer will ensure lab equipment is utilized efficiently, support production technicians in operations, and identify opportunities for lab efficiency and cost improvements.Essential Job FunctionsAct as main point of contact for Technical Sales team for RFQ, quoting, deliverables, and cycle time requirementsHands-on execution, including occasional equipment operation, wafer dicing, die attach, wire bond, encapsulation, lead trim and form, ball attach, singulation, and other assembly processesManage lab resources to ensure high production utilization and timely completion of work ordersTrack, report, and expedite lab work orders to meet customer committed schedulesAnalyze test and inspection results to provide customers with data, results, conclusions, and suggested follow-up actionsEstablish new processes and equipment in the lab, including installation, buy-off, qualification, training, and process documentationContinuously improve yields, cycle times, and capabilities of assembly processes in the lab while balancing resources and project schedulesAct as subject matter expert for the production team to keep projects and orders moving through the lab and resolving quality and technical issuesCoordinate with Quality to ensure SOPs are updated and accurate and that lab meets AS9100 and ISO9001 quality standardsSupport customer and certification audits and process reviewsConduct assembly lab tours and act as spokesperson for Spirit’s assembly capabilitiesRequirements5-7 years of experience in semiconductor device manufacturingBachelor’s degree (BS) in engineering, industrial engineering, chemistry, material science or related fieldAdvanced degrees or technical certifications are a plusSpecific experience with developing or implementing assembly processes or materialsFamiliarity with semiconductor reliability testing and standardsExtensive experience with MIL-STD for EEE and Semiconductor componentsFamiliarity with quality management systems (AS9100, ISO9001)Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on team buildingAbility to work independently and as a team player who thrives in a dynamic work environmentStrong solution-focused work ethic with a high degree of flexibility supporting multiple projects of varying complexity and priorityExperience with MS Office a plus, including strong Excel skillsFamiliarity with JD Edwards Oracle or other ERP software a plusExperience with automation and robotics in manufacturing a plus
