Design Engineer
Overall Purpose: The Design Engineer will independently evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures to design mechanical/fluid components and assemblies that meet the requested objectives and requirements.Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Provide design and engineering support for a wide variety of new and existing products with a focus on aerospace hoses, couplings and quick disconnectsDevelop, evaluate, and implement new processes, techniques, materials, finishes etc.Support manufacturing with new and innovative methods of producing parts and assemblies, lower costs and increase manufacturability and functionalityBe an integral part of the engineering team and will receive instructions, training, and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job in a timely mannerAdhere to 5S StandardsAdhere to all company policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, policies for attendance and punctuality and standards for safetyOther Duties:Other duties based on the needs of the Engineering DepartmentThe preceding functions have been provided as examples of the type of work performed by employees assigned to this job classification. Management reserves the right to add, modify, change or rescind work assignments and to make reasonable accommodations as needed.Qualification Requirements: Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited college or university5+ years of experience in the engineering field, preferably focused on aerospace componentsKnowledge of CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD or Catia, FEA a plus)Background in Aerospace Components preferredAbility to find creative and cost-effective design solutions to complex mechanical engineering problemsGood mechanical aptitude and knowledgeSelf-motivated and highly organizedPossess knowledge of commonly used engineering concepts, practices and proceduresStrong computer skills – especially Microsoft Word and ExcelAble to work with a fast paced, multi-disciplinary teamAble to follow instructions with little supervisionFluent in English (able to read, speak, write and understand)Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident)Physical Demands: While performing duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to:SitUse hands and fingers to handle, type or feelReach with hands and armsSpeak or hearWhile performing duties of the job, the employee is occasionally required to:StandWalkWork Environment: Mainly office environment with occasional time spent in a warehouse settingMust be a U.S. Person based on ITAR definition (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident). This position is expected to be exposed to information which is subject to U.S. export control regulations, i.e. the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
