AVID Associate /Tutor

LOCATION: District 186 Middle and High SchoolsDAYS PER YEAR: Varies (2 Days Per Week)HOURS PER DAY: Based Upon Availability (Up to 6 Hours) REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:Must be at least 18 years of ageRequires tutors to participate in AVID curriculum training onlineMust be willing to meet regularly to discuss student progress and concernsRequires the ability to effectively work with students of diverse backgroundsKeeps informed of and adheres to school regulations and policiesBe flexible in meeting the needs of the schoolMaintain prompt and regular attendance for each tutoring sessionStrong math and science backgrounds preferredCurrent university or college students or some college experience preferredSPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:Tutor students in small study groups and assist them in all subject areas relevant to them and determine concepts that need to be re-taughtEvaluate student binders, calendars, class and Cornell notes, learning logs, etc.Conduct brainstorming and clustering sessionsConduct and determine concepts that need to be focused upon in tutorial sessionsPerform other duties as assigned.
