This role sits at the intersection of design and manufacturing and plays a critical part in ensuring visual excellence and material consistency across high-quality consumer products. The position is embedded within a CMF & Graphics organization that values precision, collaboration, and brand integrity.This is a highly visual, detail-driven role ideal for someone who thrives in cross-functional environments and enjoys translating design intent into manufacturable, production-ready solutions.Job DescriptionThe Color Mastering Specialist is responsible for ensuring visual color accuracy and surface finish consistency across all A-surface materials. This role serves as a key bridge between design, engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supplier teams to validate alignment across color, gloss, texture, and finish.The specialist manages color mastering from early CMF design handoff through production sign-off, ensuring standards are clearly established, documented, and maintained for scalable execution.Responsibilities IncludeManage the color mastering process from CMF design handoff through production approval for all A-surface materialsLead physical sample reviews and visual alignment sessions across paint, plastics, graphics, fabrics, metals, and vinylCreate, maintain, and control master color and finish standards (e.g., paint chips, texture plaques, vinyl samples)Validate consistency of color, gloss, texture, and finish across materials and suppliersPartner with suppliers and internal teams to resolve visual quality and color-matching issues efficientlyMaintain a physical and visual library of approved finishes for cross-functional referenceCollaborate closely with CMF design, engineering, quality, manufacturing, and supplier partners to ensure alignment and manufacturabilitySupport testing of new color technologies, finishes, and material innovations in coordination with R&DDocument approvals, standards, and decisions to support repeatable and scalable processesQualificationsRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Materials Engineering, Color Science, or a related field3+ years of experience in color development, material specification, or color quality controlStrong visual sensitivity to color, gloss, texture, and finish across varied lighting conditionsHands-on experience evaluating paints, plastics, decals, fabrics, and soft goods from a visual quality perspectiveWorking knowledge of color-matching processes, master panel development, and manufacturing tolerancesStrong communication and documentation skills with the ability to lead reviews and work directly with suppliersExperience using visual evaluation tools such as light booths, gloss meters, and spectrophotometersDemonstrated reliability and follow-throughStrong team collaboration skillsClear and effective communication abilitiesPreferred Qualifications:Master's degree in CMF Design or a closely related disciplineExperience within automotive, powersports, or consumer product manufacturing environmentsProficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)Exposure to supplier management and cross-regional manufacturing environmentsBenefitsDahl Consulting is proud to offer a comprehensive benefits package to eligible employees that will allow you to choose the best coverage to meet your family's needs.
