Job OverviewWe are seeking a motivated and relationship-driven Lead Business Development Representative to join a reputable dual-diagnosis behavioral health treatment provider offering PHP and IOP services. This individual will play a key role in driving census growth, strengthening referral partnerships, and expanding the organization's presence throughout the NJ and NY markets.The ideal candidate will have strong experience in behavioral health business development, specifically within out-of-network (OON) substance abuse and mental health treatment settings. Existing organic referral relationships with healthcare professionals, hospitals, therapists, interventionists, case managers, and community partners throughout New Jersey and New York are highly preferred.This is an excellent opportunity for a high-performing business development professional looking to grow into leadership and assist with mentoring and supporting a developing outreach team.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain strong referral relationships throughout NJ and NY marketsGenerate admissions referrals for dual-diagnosis PHP and IOP programmingBuild strategic partnerships with hospitals, therapists, psychiatrists, interventionists, EAPs, case managers, and healthcare providersRepresent the organization at networking events, conferences, community events, and professional meetingsConduct consistent outreach efforts including in-person meetings, phone calls, and follow-up communicationEducate referral sources on the company's clinical offerings, levels of care, admissions process, and treatment philosophyCollaborate closely with admissions and clinical teams to ensure smooth patient transitions and continuity of careTrack outreach activity, referral development, and business growth initiatives through CRM systems and reporting toolsIdentify opportunities for market growth and assist with strategic expansion effortsSupport and help guide junior business development representatives as neededMaintain strong knowledge of behavioral health industry trends, payer dynamics, and competitor activityUphold HIPAA compliance and company standards in all external communications and business practicesQualificationsMinimum of 2+ years of behavioral health business development experience requiredExperience working with out-of-network (OON) treatment programs strongly preferredExisting referral relationships in New Jersey and New York requiredStrong understanding of substance abuse and mental health treatment services, including PHP and IOP levels of careProven ability to generate referrals and maintain long-term professional relationshipsExcellent communication, networking, and presentation skillsStrong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and manage territory growthExperience with CRM systems and outreach tracking preferredManagement or leadership experience is a plus but not requiredValid driver's license and ability to travel throughout assigned territories required
