IT Systems Engineer

Summary:The IT Systems Engineer assists in the streamlined operation of the IT Department in alignment with the business objectives of the organization. The IT Systems Engineer will primarily execute implementations of technology, as well as troubleshoot and maintain existing platforms, perform maintenance of platforms (Messaging, Storage, Telecom, Virtualization, Networking, Active Directory, etc.). They will maintain process consistency, research new technologies, and make improvement recommendations to management.Responsibilities:Research, design, implement, and troubleshoot information systems and technology solutions in support of business needsReview troubleshooting procedures, operations manuals, and user guidanceManage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all IT systems, including servers, networks, applications, and securityDeploy and manage virtual systems, storage, and associated infrastructureDefine business and systems requirements for new technology implementationsDirect research on potential technology solutions in support of procurement effortsDevelop and maintain robust LAN, WAN, and Cloud capabilities, and evaluate appropriate premise and hosted offeringsQualifications:Knowledge of network technologies, server operating systems, and Cloud technologies including Azure/365Technical knowledge of current network and server hardware protocols and standardsExtensive end-user systems and application support experienceStrong working knowledge in both Microsoft and Linux operations and troubleshootingKnowledge of firewalls, access lists and systems securityDevelop and maintain installation and configuration proceduresAdminister servers, desktop computers, printers, phones, security updates and patchesAbility to troubleshoot and resolve user issues as well as interact with systems as requiredAbility to conduct and direct research into IT issues and products as requiredAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business reports, periodicals, professional journals, or governmental regulationsAbility to prepare presentations, write reports and business correspondence with limited or no errorsAbility to effectively and persuasively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public in business-friendly and user-friendly languageExcellent written and oral communication skillsKeen attention to detailProven analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to effectively prioritize and execute tasksExceptional customer service orientationRequirements:Minimum 7 years of relevant experienceMust have experience in Microsoft and Linux platformsBachelor's Degree or equivalent experience preferredOn-call availabilityAbility to obtain a US Government clearanceOrbis Operations is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, or protected veteran status.
