Greensman I, Golf Maintenance

About the Role The Greensman I position covers all facets of the groundskeeper position with an expanded role concentrating on leadership, training, and communication. This position requires a positive attitude, strong work ethic, ability to work with and lead a crew as well as work alone, and willingness to want and learn all aspects of golf maintenance. They should have experience as a laborer with an appropriate and developing grasp of course conditioning requirements and the ability to achieve these requirements in the field. The Greensman I position assists the course maintenance staff in day-to-day operations. Performs daily course maintenance responsibilities and is the point of contact for course maintenance staff. Incorporates safe work practices in job performance. Act as a crew leader when assigned and communicate with a clear understanding of the expectations. Provide feedback throughout projects on progress, staffing, material, and equipment. Adopt the "culture" of the department in behavior, work ethic, and appearance. What You Will Do Perform daily golf course maintenance duties including mowing, turf care, course setup, and general grounds upkeep. Handle preventive maintenance of all golf course equipment and accurately update required maintenance and equipment logs. Clean and maintain all equipment after use, ensuring tools and machinery are kept in excellent working condition. Demonstrate leadership by assisting in guiding and supporting the crew both on and off the golf course throughout the day. Train new employees on all aspects of golf course maintenance, equipment operation, and safety procedures. Communicate effectively with the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, and Equipment Technicians regarding equipment needs, course conditions, or operational concerns. Maintain exceptional attention to detail and cleanliness throughout all areas, from the maintenance shop to the golf course grounds. Ensure all tees, tee markers, and traffic stakes are properly placed and maintained at all times. Pick up trash across the golf course daily and clean the golf operations facilities each afternoon. Participate willingly in resort-wide work events and special projects as needed. Maintain flexibility in scheduling to support operational demands, including early mornings, weekends, or holidays. Work independently with limited supervision while maintaining high performance standards. Provide supervisory support and leadership in the absence of management when required. Exhibit strong leadership qualities, lead by example, and maintain open and professional communication with management and team members at all times. What You Bring Previous experience in golf course maintenance, groundskeeping, landscaping, or equipment operation preferred. Ability to safely operate a wide variety of golf course maintenance equipment and small engines. Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality and consistency. Willingness to learn new tasks and adapt to changing priorities and environmental conditions. Ability to work effectively as part of a team while taking direction from supervisors. Physical ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, including lifting, bending, walking, and standing outdoors in various weather conditions. Basic understanding of safety procedures and readiness to follow established policies.
