Nurse Practitioner/ Physician Assistant- Orthopedic Clinic
DescriptionPosition SummaryDelta Health is seeking a skilled and motivated Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our Orthopedic team. They will provide comprehensive medical care, including patient evaluations, diagnostic interpretation, and treatment planning, and assisting in surgical procedures. This role requires a high level of clinical judgment and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with an orthopedic surgeon to deliver high-quality patient care.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform comprehensive and problem-focused patient histories and physical examinationsInterpret and correlate laboratory and diagnostic results to develop differential and working diagnosesDevelop and implement treatment plans for orthopedic conditions within scope of practiceOrder and perform diagnostic procedures, including imaging (X-ray, CT, MRI, bone scans), EMG, EKG, and laboratory studiesPerform clinical procedures such as:Digital blocks and regional anesthesiaWound closure, debridement, and managementIncision and drainage, needle biopsyTendon repair and minor surgical proceduresPercutaneous pinning, K-wire and hardware removalConduct therapeutic procedures including:Joint and bursa aspirationsFracture and dislocation reductionsInjections (joints, tendons, trigger points, bursa)Casting, splinting, and brace applicationsAssist in surgery as a first assist, including tissue closure and application of orthopedic devicesConduct hospital rounds, write orders, and participate in on-call coverageEvaluate hospitalized patients and manage treatment plans, including discharge summaries and documentationPrescribe and manage medications, orthotics, and orthopedic devices per state regulationsEducate patients and families on conditions and treatment plansMaintain accurate and timely patient documentationCoordinate referrals to specialists, facilities, and community resourcesQualificationsMaster's degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited programBoard-certified Physician Assistant with an active Colorado licenseBoard-certified Nurse Practitioner with an active Colorado licenseActive Colorado DEA licenseCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications (required upon hire)3-5 years of orthopedic experience requiredCompliance with supervision and provider agreement requirementsParticipation in ongoing performance evaluations and chart reviewsKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesStrong clinical decision-making and problem-solving skillsExcellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilitiesAbility to work independently while collaborating effectively with a healthcare teamStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple prioritiesAdaptability to changing clinical and organizational needsProficiency in computer systems, including EMR documentation and data managementAbility to maintain professionalism under pressure and manage conflict effectivelyWhy Join Delta Health?Comprehensive Benefits PackageMedical, RX, Dental & Vision - Low premiums with 100% coverage on services provided within the Delta Health system, and no deductibles or co-pays.
