Job DescriptionField Service Technician - Industrial Machinery / CNC EquipmentLocation: Greater Chicago Area (based in Northern Illinois)Travel: 50-70% Regional & North American TravelCompensation: $85,000 - $120,000+ Total Compensation Potential(Hourly + Overtime + Per Diem + Company Vehicle/Travel Support)A growing industrial machinery organization is seeking multiple Field Service Technicians to support installation, troubleshooting, startup, maintenance, and repair of advanced manufacturing equipment across North America. This is an excellent opportunity for mechanically and electrically skilled technicians who enjoy customer interaction, travel, and hands-on problem solving in industrial environments.This role supports a variety of industrial equipment including CNC machinery, press brakes, fiber lasers, saw systems, hydraulic equipment, and automated manufacturing systems.Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, commission, troubleshoot, and service industrial manufacturing equipment at customer facilitiesDiagnose electrical, PLC, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical issuesRead and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical documentationPerform preventative maintenance, machine inspections, and repairsSupport machine startup, calibration, and operator trainingWork directly with plant managers, operators, setup personnel, and maintenance teamsComplete service reports and communicate technical findings clearlyTravel to customer sites throughout the U.S. and occasionally CanadaDesired Background2+ years of experience as a Field Service Technician, Maintenance Technician, or Industrial Service EngineerExperience working on CNC equipment, industrial machinery, automation systems, lasers, press brakes, saws, stamping equipment, or similar manufacturing machineryStrong electrical troubleshooting ability preferredWorking knowledge of PLC systems (Mitsubishi experience is a plus)Mechanical and hydraulic troubleshooting experienceAbility to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawingsComfortable working independently in customer-facing environmentsAbility and willingness to travel 50-70%Overtime flexibility and occasional overnight travel requiredPreferred ExperienceCandidates with experience from the following environments are highly attractive:CNC machineryMachine tool OEMsIndustrial automationMetal fabrication equipmentLaser cutting systemsPress brake equipmentPackaging or converting machineryHigh-speed manufacturing equipmentIndustrial maintenance or controls environmentsCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive hourly or salaried compensation depending on experienceSignificant overtime opportunityPer diem and travel reimbursementCompany vehicle or vehicle allowanceMedical, dental, and vision insurancePTO and paid holidaysCareer advancement opportunitiesStable, growth-oriented environment with strong long-term demandIdeal CandidateThis position is ideal for a technician who:Enjoys hands-on troubleshooting and field workWants higher earning potential through overtime and travelPrefers variety over repetitive factory workIs comfortable interacting directly with customersThrives in fast-paced industrial environmentsWants long-term career growth within industrial equipment and automationTarget Compensation Band (Illinois Market)Mid-Level Field Service Technician: $85,000 - $100,000 total annual compensationSenior-Level Field Service Technician: $100,000 - $120,000+ total annual compensationCompensation will vary based on PLC expertise, CNC machinery experience, travel flexibility, and ability to independently troubleshoot complex industrial systems.Salary is dependent on experience.All applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.Resumes can be confidentially sent to ross.derosier@gogpac.com or for urgent consideration call direct at (920) 873-5538.
