Senior Electrical Engineer

About the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join a fast-growing medical device company. This is a hands-on technical role for an engineer who thrives at the intersection of hardware, embedded systems, and cross-functional collaboration — and who is passionate about bringing safe, reliable medical devices to market.What You'll DoDesign and develop electronic subsystems for medical devices, including disposable and capital equipment, spanning sensing, controls, actuation, and communications applicationsTranslate system-level requirements into schematics, PCBAs, cable assemblies, and interface definitionsDefine electrical architectures including power distribution, safety interlocks, diagnostics, and communication interfacesDesign low-noise analog, mixed-signal, high-speed, and power electronics PCBAsSpecify and design custom cable harnesses suitable for medical environmentsEnsure EMI/EMC robustness and compliance with applicable medical device standardsSelect components with attention to accuracy, reliability, environmental exposure, lifecycle, and deratingPrototype and debug embedded control algorithms for real-time closed-loop control systems (PID, feed-forward, fault detection)Collaborate with firmware and software teams to define hardware/firmware interfaces and control strategiesSupport electrical and system-level verification and validation testing including IEC 60601-1 and IEC 60601-1-2 complianceContribute to risk analyses (FMEA) with focus on safety-critical failuresProvide technical oversight to contract design houses and manufacturing partners, including review of schematics, layouts, test plans, and documentationSupport design transfer, root cause investigation, component lifecycle management, and continuous improvementPartner with clinical, product management, quality, and regulatory teams throughout the product development lifecycleMentor junior engineers and contribute to a collaborative, high-performance team cultureBackground requirements:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required; Master's preferred6-8+ years of experience in electronic subsystem design within a regulated product environmentWorking knowledge of IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-1-2, and ISO 14971Proven experience in analog and mixed-signal circuit design, including sensor front-ends and signal conditioningPower electronics and power management experience (DC-DC, linear regulation, protection)Proficiency in PCBA design using modern EDA tools; Altium experience a plusExperience designing electrical interfaces for closed-loop control system components (sensors, pumps, valves, heaters)Hands-on prototyping, debugging, and lab instrumentation skillsStrong understanding of EMI/EMC, grounding, and cabling best practicesEmbedded systems design experience and hardware/firmware co-designProficiency in embedded software development (C/C++) and scripting for hardware automation and data analysis (Python)Experience implementing closed-loop control concepts including PID tuning, stability, and fault detectionFamiliarity with design controls, design reviews, and change management in a regulated environmentPrior ownership of hardware through full product lifecycle — concept through sustainingProven ability to lead technical workstreams and manage external contractors or partnersStrong documentation, presentation, and cross-functional communication skillsAbility to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time
