Certified Nurse Aide Assists patients with healthcare needs who are ill or recovering from surgery or disease. Certified Nurse Aides are assigned by an RN. The C.N.A. functions under the delegation of an RN. The Patient Greeter performs a variety of supportive tasks to assist patients and families. Performs routine and delegated duties according to departmental policies and provides assistance to the patients, families and floor staff by performing the following duties:Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abides by service behavior standards.Performs other duties as assigned.May be required to float to other departments (within scope of competency and qualifications) based on business need.May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.Carries out nursing care delegated by the RN.Receives report from RN daily by 0830 or 2030 to coordinate plan of care related to ADL's. Documents all ADL's for each patient every shift.Answers lights, or intercom system to determine patients' needs.Assists patients in activities of daily living; ex: bathing, teeth brushed, linen change, pericare, walking.Serves and collects food trays and feeds patients requiring help.Transports patients or assists patients to walk.Turns and repositions patients, as needed.Runs errands, and directs visitors.Participates in admission/discharge activitiesTakes and records routine vital signs, daily weights, food and fluid intake and output, and documents information in a timely manner. Reports age specific variance to RN.Accurately documents the care provided to patient during shift.Adheres to infection prevention strategies.Stock rooms with supplies. Stock isolation racks with supplies.Responsible to perform purposeful rounding.Updates "care boards" to include name, plan related to ADL's, dateServes as the main greeter in the medical/surgical areas for patients and family members.Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of the patient and family.Answers telephone, in accordance with the Service Excellence Behavior Standards.Reports information in a timely manner.Performs typing functions as needed.Consults Nursing Supervisor and RN Shift Lead to determine flow of patients throughout the day.Obtains and stocks coffee supplies for patient and family needs.Maintain immediate availability to families to assist with questions or concerns for patients in the operating room or endoscopy department.Act as a role model for orientation and training of other greeters (e.g. auxiliary volunteer) in the waiting room.Communicates with patients and families and keeps them updated with progression of surgical/endoscopic cases.Demonstrates behaviors consistent with organizational mission and goals.Participates in facility Quality Improvement/IOP Program.Demonstrates knowledge of patient flow within the surgical services department and able to communicate family needs to the surgical services associates.Other duties may be assigned.Entry Rate: Depending on experienceBenefits Eligible: YesShift Details: Monday Friday Days 8:00 to 5:00Department: Medical Unit - St James HospitalThe list below is considered to be essential functions of your position and all associates within SCL Health are expected to meet the following in their day to day work:Be available to work as scheduled and report to work on time.Be available to work overtime, if needed.Be willing to accept supervision and work well with others.Be respectful of all with whom you interact and follow the SCL Health Service Behaviors.Be well groomed and dressed appropriately for your role.Be in compliance with the drug and alcohol policiesBe sufficiently rested to perform your duties throughout the period assigned.Demonstrate a willingness to learn.Be able to communicate clearly, think clearly and concentrate on assigned tasks.Follows all applicable hospital policies and procedures.Follows policies and procedures for infection control and facility safety in accordance with regulatory guidelines.Follows "Patients' Rights Policy" at all times.Demonstrates knowledge of information management as appropriate.High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)Nurse Aide Skills ChecklistCurrent Montana C.N.A. certification required upon hireBLS required within 60 days of hireAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
