Assistant Personal Care Assistant
Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Assistant Personal Care Assistants to provide exceptional support to individuals in various care settings, including home, community, assisted living, and long-term care facilities. This role involves assisting clients with daily activities, monitoring health status, and ensuring their safety and well-being. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to patient-centered care, excellent communication skills, and experience working with diverse populations such as seniors, individuals with developmental disabilities, or those living with dementia or autism. Prior experience in healthcare or caregiving environments is highly valued.
Duties
Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
Provide medication administration and monitor vital signs in accordance with care plans
Support residents with meal preparation and feeding, ensuring nutritional needs are met
Observe and document patient condition, behavior, and responses to treatments or interventions
Utilize equipment such as Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices to ensure safe transfers and mobility
Maintain a clean and safe environment through proper cleaning and infection control practices
Follow HIPAA guidelines to ensure confidentiality and privacy of client information
Support clients with memory care needs, including dementia or Alzheimer's care strategies
Assist with patient monitoring during shifts, reporting any concerns to supervising healthcare professionals
Participate in training on CPR, first aid, hospice care, and other relevant certifications as needed
Experience
Prior experience in home & community care, assisted living, nursing homes, or hospice care preferred
Experience working with people with developmental disabilities or autism is advantageous
Knowledge of medication administration, vital signs measurement, and care planning is desirable
Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient privacy standards required
Experience handling residents' needs using equipment like Hoyer lifts or other mobility aids preferred
Background in social work or long-term care enhances ability to provide holistic support
Certification in CPR and first aid is a plus; ongoing training opportunities available for professional development
