Thermal Analysis Engineer (BT-26032)

The Thermal Analysis Engineer will support the space program located in Houston, TX.RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop and maintain high-fidelity thermal models using tools such as Thermal Desktop and SINDA/FLUINT.Perform steady-state and transient thermal analyses for spacecraft components and integrated systems.Evaluate thermal performance under various mission phases, including launch, transit, lunar orbit, and quiescent modes.Support thermal verification activities, including test planning, data analysis, and model correlation.Collaborate with design teams to optimize thermal control strategies (e.g., insulation, heaters, radiators) and provide guidance on thermal considerations.Participate in design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and anomaly investigations.Document analysis results and present findings to internal stakeholders and NASA customers.Reviewing and providing feedback on NASA and vendor thermal designs to ensure compliance with requirements and best practices.Other duties as assigned.REQUIRED:This position has been posted at multiple levels (must meet minimum level indicated). Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.Must have a bachelor's degree in the field of engineering.Must have 2+ years of recent and related work experience.Experience with thermal analysis tools such as but not limited to Thermal Desktop, COMSOL, Ansys Fluent, or similar industry standard software.Proven experience in thermal analysis and design for aerospace systems.Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to coordinate support from a wide range of technical disciplines.Strong capability to assess and validate thermal designs for technical accuracy and compliance.DESIRED:BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of two (2) years of direct engineering experience.Familiar with JSC organizations, processes, and procedures.The ability to coordinate support from a wide range of technical disciplines.Experience in the design, analysis, testing, certification, and operation of space PTCS systems and components, which may include but are not limited to multilayer insulation (MLI), thermal blankets, surface coatings, radiators, heat pipes, and other passive thermal hardware during pre-launch, flight, and post-landing phases.Experience with Thermal Desktop is preferred.Familiarity with the Engineering Life Cycle process.WORK LOCATION:* This position is located onsite and offers a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off; some travel may be required.* Schedules are subject to change based on the requirements of the position and/or customer needs.BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:All Bastion employees must be able to pass a national agency check and some positions require clearance and will require an extensive background verification/check process.DRUG AND ALCOHOL SCREENING REQUIRED:All Bastion employees must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and are required to participate in periodic random drug and alcohol screenings.STANDARD BASTION REQUIREMENTS:Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TEAMS.All of Bastion's employees must be team players with strong work ethics and must be culture oriented.Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, with internal and external customers.Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.Must be organized with good time management skills and must be able to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time) and may require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs.
