Radiation Therapist Location: Manahawkin, NJ Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,711 per week Shift Information: Days - 5 days x 8 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 4/27/2026 About the Position Job Title: Radiation Therapist Profession: Radiation Therapist Specialty: - Duration: Temporary to cover a leave of absence Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (varies based on patient load) Experience: 1 to 2 years preferred License: State of New Jersey Radiation Therapist license Certifications: ARRT participation, CPR Certified Must-Have: - 1 to 2 years of experience - Varian/ARIA software knowledge - Must be registered by the ARRT in Radiation Therapy - Must hold a current license as required by the State of New Jersey Description: The Radiation Therapy Technologist is responsible for the delivery of ionizing radiation to treat patients in accordance with the Radiation Oncologists' prescription and simulation instructions. Responsible for the safe and effective execution of the prescribed course of radiotherapy and assessment of images and the performance of diagnostic and interventional procedures. Administers radiation treatments to the patients, demonstrating competence in various aspects of practice. Delivers and monitors the delivery of treatment. Ensures clear and completed documentation. Obtains and evaluates portal images, implementing corrective measures as necessary. Performs calculations and prepares room and equipment. Informs and instructs patients regarding equipment and procedures. Ensures informed consent is obtained. Transfers and positions the patient as needed. Simulates treatment portals per Radiation Oncologist instructions using the conventional and/or CT simulator for treatment field localization and verification. Documents precise and legible information for setup instructions including setup aides, treatment distance, field size, treatment depth, and angles. Assesses diagnostic studies for field placement evaluation. Prepares for and constructs immobilization devices as necessary. Places marks, tattoos, and landmark points for setup purposes. Contours the patient in appropriate planes. Performs calculations for monitor units as directed by the Medical Physicist. Constructs and mounts individualized shielding blocks, as well as lead cut-outs as required. Prepares and applies individualized bolus. Performs and records quality assurance procedures as per department policies. Maintains timely execution of daily treatment appointment schedules in conjunction with patient transportation and care. Maintains a clean, tidy, and functional work area. Stocks and maintains supplies and laundry in treatment and simulator rooms. Observes equipment for proper operation and reports any malfunctions to the necessary personnel. Assesses and responds to patients' physical condition and special needs. Answers patient and family member questions within professional scope regarding treatment. Ensures patients receive educational materials at the beginning of treatment. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness in the Radiation Oncology Department, particularly in patient care rooms. Assists in teaching Radiation Therapy to students during their clinical rotation. Identifies the needs of the patient population served and delivers care that is specific to those needs. Adheres to the standards identified in the organization's competencies.
