Duties & Responsibilities Lay out and plan pipe system installations following blueprints, P&ID drawings, isometric drawings, and specifications to ensure proper alignment, support, and function. Cut, thread, bend, and weld pipe using hand and power tools, pipe cutters, threading machines, and welding equipment. Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading, ensuring accurate cuts and fit-ups. Fit and assemble pipe systems and supports, including valves, flanges, hangers, reducers, elbows, and other fittings, for steam, gas, water, air, and chemical lines. Interpret and follow drawings and technical documentation, including specifications for pressure ratings (150#, 300#, etc.), pipe schedules, and material types. Fabricate and install complex piping configurations involving structural steel, valves, pressure vessels, and high-pressure lines. Test piping systems for leaks and proper operation, using hydrostatic, pneumatic, or other approved testing methods. Secure pipes and fittings in place using brackets, clamps, and hangers to ensure mechanical integrity and prevent vibration or strain. Perform maintenance and repairs on existing piping systems, identifying and resolving leaks, corrosion, or misalignment issues. Support welding operations for pipe fabrication, modifications, and tie-ins using Stick (SMAW), MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), brazing, or oxy-acetylene methods. Collaborate with other departments and trades to ensure installations meet plant standards and operational needs. Be available for emergency repairs and call-ins to minimize plant downtime and maintain system functionality. Follow all safety procedures and regulatory requirements, including lockout/tagout, confined space entry, PPE usage, and hot work permitting. Qualifications Certificate of completion of a registered welding apprenticeship program; Relevant experience of 4+ years (minimum 8,000 hours) may be considered in lieu of certification AWS and/or NCCER certifications preferred Valid Driver's License Performance driven. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to moderately loud. Specific vision abilities required for this job include correctable vision to complete work safely. Compensation & Benefits The minimum starting wage for this position is $34 - $42/hour, with potential adjustments based on skills, experience and qualifications.
