All helping ensure that communities can focus on improved care for residents while still reaching their financial goals.SafelyYou is one of five most innovative fall technologies referenced in the Senate Falls Report (2019), a winner of the McKnight’s Tech Partner of the Year, and has been named to Fortune’s Impact 20 list, which recognizes companies making people’s lives better through innovation.Your Role at SafelyYouAs a Software Engineer on the Fleet Team, you will help maintain, improve, and extend the infrastructure that manages tends of thousands of edge devices deployed across care communities. You'll work on backend systems in Go or Python, contribute to internal tools, and take ownership of features and improvements that directly impact device health, over-the-air updates, and system observability. You will start to build your understanding of architecture and how systems fit together, while working within established frameworks and suggesting incremental improvements. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving practical problems, learning from experienced teammates, and building reliable systems that make a real-world impact.We welcome candidates from all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives, including those from non-traditional paths into software engineering.Key ResponsibilitiesBuild and maintain backend services that support device registration, OTA (over-the-air) updates, and configuration changes Participate in troubleshooting and debugging production issues, including working with logs, metrics, and alertsContribute to improvements in observability (tools and practices to understand system health) and automationCollaborate with senior engineers on system design and implementation details, developing your architectural thinkingContribute to internal frontend tools when neededParticipate in code reviews and incorporate feedback to continually improve your workWrite unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and reliabilityWork closely with Product, Operations, and Support teams to deliver features that improve operational efficiencyActively seek and apply feedback to grow technical skills and team contributionsLearn from mentorship opportunities while gradually taking on larger areas of ownershipThe Ideal CandidateYou don't need to meet every requirement to apply - we value a growth mindset, potential, and impact.Experience in at least one backend language, with a willingness to learn Go or PythonFamiliarity with REST APIs, microservices, and cloud platforms (AWS or GCP)Understanding of testing, version control, and modern software development practicesStrong communicator and collaborator, especially in a remote-first environment Curious, humble, and eager to learn from others while contributing your own ideasComfortable working independently on scoped tasks while asking for help when neededOpen to learning architectural concepts and system design from experienced team members Why Join Us?
