General Foreman
Brief DescriptionA General Foreman is responsible for providing leadership and directing the work of R&H crews and subcontractors on Buildings projects, generally $10M+ in size where they oversee all scopes of work with other trade foreman reporting to them. The general foreman is also responsible for safety, quality control and jobsite logistics/coordination.SafetyEssential Duties Include:At R&H everyone is empowered to work safe. Responsible and accountable for the safety of the crew under their directionFacilitate weekly job site safety meetingsEnsure completion of initial safety and hazard assessments (site specific safety plan and pre-task plans) Participate in safety/incident investigations Ensure tools, cords and equipment have been properly inspectedProvide job site safety orientationsTrack jobsite safety requirements, including employee safety certifications, tool and equipment inspections, etc.Leadership And SupervisionThe general foreman coordinates the crews and is involved in holding crews accountable for their performance.Communicate and set expectations regarding job assignments to subcontractors and R&H team membersReinforces & promotes an equitable and inclusive work environment. Recognize, address, and resolve issues/problems among/between crew membersApply principles of workplace respect on siteEnsure crew compliance with project and company policies and proceduresProvide performance evaluations for R&H crew members with superintendent inputFill-in for superintendent and management the project for a short durationManages materials, equipment and labor budgets for self-performed work. Completed forecasts and cost control for self-performed labor across all divisions of work.Planning And SchedulingThe general foreman is accountable for following project plans and schedules to ensure that crews under their direction perform daily and weekly activities to meet productivity goals. Interpret and understand the comprehensive plan set, specifications, RFIs, ASI and other architectural change items for assigned scopes/trades; Review technical data related to submittals for conformance with the contract documents including layout and dimensions.Accountable for reading, understanding, and following project scheduleDevelop and manage rolling work plans for 10M+ project Lead foreperson pull planning and schedule meetings and deliver accurate updated rolling schedule to the superintendent for incorporation into the project master scheduleEnsure crews under their direction perform daily and weekly activities to meet production goalsForecast needed labor for assigned scopes/areas of workLooks ahead and requests/orders needed material for upcoming work in scope areasWork with the crew to offer and solve project problems/challengesPerform material take-offsManage the supply chain for procurement of materials and components, working with the superintendent and project managerQuality ControlThe general foreman tailors, implements and manages the project quality assurance/quality control program. The workweek is Monday-Friday and occasionally on weekends/nights depending on the project. This position is based out of our Portland office, but the incumbent would be required to work on jobsites throughout the greater Portland metropolitan area. In addition, the position sometimes (0-20%) requires travel. This position requires work in the outdoors in all types of weather. It requires walking, standing, bending, and stooping for extended periods, at times in confined spaces. Work occurs on ladders, scaffolds, and other above ground locations. Employees may be exposed to dust, fumes, noise, and unpleasant variation in temperature. Work requires lifting and carrying heavy objects. Some positions require working around chemicals and caustic compounds. R&H will provide all necessary personal protective equipment to keep you safe.
