DescriptionJob Title: QBI Intervention Specialist - BHSLPosition Function: The Intervention Specialist will collaborate with educators in effecting positive behavior change in students by developing interventions, utilizing ACHIEVE resources, working with students who have violated the student code of conduct, connecting school/home/community in designing plans for support and working with staff in tracking data of students both behaviorally and academically.Essential Performance ResponsibilitiesDemonstrates a strong foundation in positive behavior supportsDesigns and implements multi-faceted behavior interventions based on dataAbility to communicate (written and verbal) effectively with parents and professionalsAbility to collaborate with all members of the school communityDemonstrates confidentiality when dealing with students, parents, and school employeesUnderstands and works with the various support systems available in the school and communityUnderstands and follows district policies and guidelines when dealing with violations of the student code of conductUnderstands Special Education regulations including the Least Restrictive Behavior InterventionPossesses excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to handle emotionally charged situationsAbility to coach others to apply effective behavior management techniquesAdditional Duties: Assists with additional duties as assigned by supervisors.Equipment: This position may require the ability to use SMART boards and iPads in addition to basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and fax machine. Must always comply with USD 259's guidelines for equipment use.Travel: Occasional visits to students' homes will be required in order to collect social history and complete paperwork with a student's family.Physical And Mental DemandsMust be able to walk long distances, respond rapidly in emergency situations, stand for long periods of time, bend, twist, balance, stoop, climb steps, reach overhead, lift, push, pull up to 20 pounds or more with assistance, work five days a week, up to seven hours or more per day, or as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesProven use of effective collaboration skillsProficient oral and written communication skills requiredProficient personal relationship skillsExtensive knowledge and experience working with students who demonstrate the need for intensive servicesDemonstrated proficiency in developing and delivering training to meet the targeted needs of the identified audienceProficient problem solving skillsDemonstrated acumen in completing tasks and dealing with situations related to the essential functions of the positionExtensive knowledge and practice setting up structured environmentsDisplays a significant degree of professionalism and confidentialityAbility to conform to proper standards of professional dress and appearanceKnowledge of company's mission, purpose, goals and the role of every employee in achieving each of themQualificationsInterrelations:Contact with students, personnel within the district and with customers and vendorsWill be working under the direct supervision of the Building Principal in order to complete day to day tasksWill be working with a diverse population requiring the ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacyMust understand and respond appropriately to customer needs and maintain a positive attitude with all customers and colleaguesExpected to interact with all internal and external customers in a friendly, professional manner and provide quick, responsive customer serviceEmployee Punctuality And AppearanceIn order for schools to operate effectively, employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday, unless the employee has received approved leaveAny deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employee's supervisor or building administratorAll employees are required to report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a positive image of USD 259 and is appropriate for their positionQualification ProfileBachelor's Degree in either Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related subject required2-3 Years experience in K-12 Education setting preferredFLSA Status: Non-Exempt
