This hands-on, outdoor role focuses on plant health, soil care, pruning, and ecological maintenance across vacant lots, parks, and community spaces.In this position, you will assess plant health, water and mulch plants, prune trees and shrubs, manage weeds, improve soil conditions, select appropriate plantings, and contribute to seasonal planting plans. Your horticultural expertise will be key in ensuring the long-term vitality of green spaces and supporting the environmental health of the community.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain plant health through regular watering, mulching, pruning, and pest managementImprove soil health and manage environmental issues affecting plantsSelect and implement appropriate plantings for seasonal plansManage weeds and maintain cleanliness of green spacesWork closely with residents, volunteers, and the Foreman to enhance green spacesProvide expert advice on plant care and sustainability best practicesSupport long-term ecological maintenance and seasonal planting strategiesRequirementsDemonstrated knowledge of plant care, including watering, pruning, mulching, and soil healthAbility to identify common plant stressors, pests, and environmental issuesExperience with planting plans, native or adaptive species, and basic landscape design preferredAbility to work outdoors in varying weather conditionsComfort working both independently and collaboratively with staff, residents, and volunteersWillingness to work flexible hours, including occasional weekendsExperience in landscaping, gardening, horticulture, or environmental stewardshipWhy Join Us?Competitive hourly rate: $18 to $25 per hour (based on experience)Health, dental, and vision benefitsPaid time off and sick leaveOpportunities for professional development
