Cyclyx Overview Only 10% of plastics are recycled today, and that must change. Cyclyx is a new kind of plastic feedstock management company that works with industry participants to increase plastic recyclability. Cyclyx operates as a membership consortium, uniting stakeholders around the circular value chains to work together and drive new results in plastic recycling. By working with partners to source, collect and pre-process large volumes of waste plastic based on exact technical specifications, Cyclyx redirects more plastic into recycling. This new partner-driven model aims to boost plastic circularity - and break the cycle that has kept recycling from reaching its full potential. The Cyclyx Circularity Center (CCC) facility is a first of its kind recycling facility which accepts clean and mixed sources of waste plastics and processes them into usable feedstock for the advanced and mechanical recycling market. This facility is significant in scale, with an annual capacity of >400 million lbs. of inbound plastic. Role Overview The EHS Manager is responsible for driving the design, implementation, execution, and training of the Health & Safety Programs at the CCC. It requires a hands-on, knowledgeable, highly responsive team player who is a self-starter, resourceful, brings creativity and strong interpersonal skills to the organization. This position acts as a collaborative team member, balanced with authoritative behaviors to ensure strict adherence to safety protocols. Critical Conditions for Success 1. Health and Safety Develop, implement, and train on required health and safety policies and programs for all staff working in the plant and visitors. Policies and programs to include but not limited to: regulatory requirements, accident/injury investigation, and root cause analysis. Prepare, document, and maintain key files such as training records, workplace hazard assessments, medical surveillance, operating procedures, and written compliance plans (i.e., hazard communication, management of change, hearing protection, respiratory protection, lockout/tagout, hot work, SPCC, etc.) including incident data related to KPI's (TRIR, DART, CFR, etc.). Schedule employee medical evaluations and fit tests and maintain health clinic documents and OSHA 300 log. Perform routine EHS inspections and incident/near miss investigations. Develop corrective actions ,drive, and track progress through completion. Support Plant Manager by meeting performance targets and implementing safety & sustainability initiatives designed to drive safety culture. Chair the Safety Committee and facilitate continuous improvement through collaborative audits. Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure pre-employment, random and post-incident/post-injury drug testing practices meet regulatory and Company standards. Liaison and manage third party safety consultants regarding loss control and claims management. 2. Environmental Develop, implement, and train on required environmental policies and programs to all CCC staff. Policies and programs to address regulatory requirements, investigation practices, root cause analysis, and corrective actions. Establish best practices for compliance with regulatory requirements (local, state, and federal), company policies and performance goals. Strictly adheres to the monitoring and testing schedule specified in environmental permits and maintains accurate records and logs of compliance data. Ensure compliance with disposal of waste from the facility. Maintain current knowledge of Dangerous Goods policies and prepare shipments of small quantity of materials for laboratory testing. Maintain current knowledge of DOT shipping regulations and ensure proper shipment of tanker truck loads to customers. Maintain Action Tracker and lead weekly call on completed, pending, and overdue environmental compliance items As required to maintain compliance with applicable regulations, collect environmental monitoring samples (air, waste, water) for laboratory analysis and interpret final data. Perform industrial hygiene monitoring, contextualize the results, and share results with employees. Qualifications Experience/Knowledge 5+years' experience in environmental and/or safety compliance Experience in a Process Safety Management (PSM) regulated facility is preferred Proven experience in developing and implementing an EHS program Demonstrated experience in safety training Excellent judgment with regard to health, safety, environmental and fire protection risks with emphasis on injury prevention and business continuity Working and practical knowledge of regulatory affairs, including OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), and state agencies strongly preferred. Excellent organizational skills Waste, manufacturing, or recycling industry experience preferred Education/Training Bachelor's degree in a related discipline (i.e. Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental and Occupational Health) or equivalent experience Personal Qualifications Excellent business acumen, commitment to teamwork, and results orientation Superior interpersonal skills and written and verbal communication skills Self-confidence, initiative, and strong problem-solving skills Impeccable personal and professional ethics Supervisory and leadership skills to facilitate with management team peers and support the production team. This includes delegation of tasks and follow-ups Microsoft applications proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Experience with EHS information systems Ability to utilize agency reporting software as needed Position Mechanics Reports to: Plant Manager Type: Salaried; full time Work Hours: Generally 8:00-5:00. This is a multi-shift operation, so there will be occasional evening and weekend work. Staff: None Location: Houston, TX Work environment: Manufacturing and professional office Travel: Potentially some in a consulting capacity as other facilities come on line Physical Demands: The EHS Manager is expected to maintain an active presence on the manufacturing floor, as well as completing work in an office environment. Candidates should possess the ability to traverse the plant floor daily in support of assessing compliance with EHS policies, identifying hazards, and performing incident investigations on an as-needed basis. Stand and walk multiple miles per day. Sit for prolonged periods of time. Handle tools, equipment, fine motor skills. Reach with hands and arms. Climb and walk on heights often greater than 4 feet. Stoop, kneel, bend, push, pull, crawl. Ascend and descend stairs and stationary vertical ladders as part of normal work activity and emergency egress situations. Lift 50 lbs. Move about all areas of the plant, including catwalks, deck grating, and uneven surfaces. Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, corrected or otherwise. Operate a 1.5-inch fire hose operating at 125 psi line pressure to the extent required to extinguish fire. Operate fire extinguishing equipment ranging from handheld extinguishers to 200 lb portable units. Access confined spaces and pressure vessels through standard 12" by 16" manways.
