SUMMARY OF DUTIES The Sales Manager is responsible for the development and performance of sales activities in assigned market to maximize sales volume and profits through market execution and management of employees. Manages the safe, cost-effective and efficient operations of the branch, including but not limited to; orchestrating business activities, utilizing the company assets and controlling expenses. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Oversees all aspects of the daily operations, ensuring compliance with Company, OSHA, DOT, State and Federal laws, policies and regulations. 2. Oversees scheduling, and daily direction of Distribution Supervisors, Account Managers, TAM, Lead Merchandisers, FT and PT merchandisers, On Premise Account Managers and Admins. 3. Develops / executes goals and marketing strategies that will ensure attainment of company sales goals and profitability. 4. Supervises personnel including hiring, coaching, terminating, performance feedback, training, work allocation, and problem resolution. 5. Completes or reviews required paperwork / processes in an accurate and timely manner, including, but not limited to: Business Planners, Credits, Product Resets, AR, Damage, Sales Edits, Merchandised CPH, CMA’s, Off day delivery, 5 case minimum, Roadnet Variance, Human Resource documents, Tuesday sale meetings, Weekly regional reporting, Branch sales execution reporting, quarterly and monthly incentive reporting. 6. Develops and maintains positive working relationships with customers. 7. Implements customer agreements and pricing per company direction. 8. Conducts regular customer store / surveys / reviews to ensure proper execution in the market. 9. Promotes and enforces a safe working environment in compliance with company policies and procedures with efforts to reduce work-related injuries. 10. Manages budgets including, labor dollars, allocated hours and expenses assigned to their branch. 11. Upholds the company’s image by conducting business with integrity and professionalism. 12. Fills in for merchandisers, account managers and when short staffed. 13. Performs other duties as assigned. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Requires high school diploma or equivalent. Previous direct store delivery sales and management experience required. A valid class C driver’s license is required with satisfactory completion of Motor Vehicle Check according to Vehicle Safety Policy. Previous experience with supervision and budgets helpful. Previous experience in the food and beverage industry helpful. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Requires excellent oral communication skills, including the ability to negotiate, problem-solve, listen to customer and employee concerns and make presentations. Requires strong writing skills to prepare communications, complete paperwork and prepare proposals. Requires organization skills to manage time effectively and execute responsibilities. Requires ability to perform advanced trade math functions. Requires basic computer skills. Requires strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound business decisions. Requires ability to drive a company vehicle. WORKING AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS Exposed to outside weather conditions when going in and out of customer locations. Spends extensive amount of time in the market at customer locations. Works in various work environments when at customer locations in the market, and in office and warehouse settings at the branch. May be exposed to extreme cold when checking inventory in customer coolers. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Frequent standing or walking to go in and out of accounts. Frequent bending, crouching and stooping when merchandising accounts. Frequently uses hands and fingers to complete paperwork, drive and handle product. Occasionally lifts up to 150 pounds when carrying and merchandising product. May use cart or two-wheeler and may be going down stairs with product. Occasional sitting when completing paperwork and driving to accounts. Occasional climbing or balancing to get product on shelves, hang banners or get in and out of truck. Occasional reaching with hands and arms when merchandising product. Repetitive hand movement when stocking coolers. Requires ability to work extended hours (10+) or until all necessary work is completed each day. May be required to work weekends and evenings as needed or for emergencies. Requires travel within assigned territory as well as to corporate office on a regular basis.
