Schedule: Day Shift. 40 hours weekly. 8:00am – 5:00pmAbout The PositionThe Medical Assistant (MA) Apprentice program at Reid Health is designed for high school students seeking hands-on experience in the healthcare field while working toward Medical Assistant certification. Under the supervision of experienced healthcare professionals, apprentices will gain both administrative and clinical skills necessary for a career as a Medical Assistant.Overview Of ResponsibilitiesAssist in taking patient medical histories and recording personal information. Measure and document vital signs (temperature, weight, blood pressure, etc.). Prepare examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness and proper supply stocking. Support providers in medical procedures, including wound care, splinting, and suture removal. Collect and prepare laboratory specimens (e.g., blood draws, urinalysis, strep tests). Administer medications and immunizations under supervision. Educate patients on treatment procedures, medications, and general health guidelines. Schedule patient appointments and manage medical records. Assist with administrative duties, including phone management, faxing, and referrals. Support electronic health records (EHR) documentation and billing tasks. Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with Reid’s quality principles and policies. Minimum GPA requirement as determined by apprenticeship program guidelines Must complete all required training and competencies as outlined in the apprenticeship program. Licensure & CertificationPreferred: Opportunity to earn the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) credential upon program completion. Certification: BLS certification (to be obtained during the program, if required).
